Might need to find a set of steak knives to go with that.

What else could they give us?

A cheese platter.

We already have plenty of those.

Done deal - we get back pick 26 this year for a future second and pick 22

Hot damn. We've really come to do business today. Two trades by lunch time in one day.

Another great deal! We move down 4 spots in the 2nd round but also snag Langdon also and still having a future 2nd round.

So effectively a future second rounder. Backing ourselves to have a much better year. With next years draft having many F/S and Academy picks, this is an excellent result

This is why you don't go early on the one Frost trade.

I think we still have a few things to do pick wise and have a feeling we are after 2 top 15 picks.

That is why we didn't want the late picks this year.

Ed Langdon has been traded to Melbourne as five picks change hands. Pick 22, 79 and a future second round selection will head to the Dockers, while pick 26 and a future fourth round selection head to Melbourne along with Langdon.

Outstanding.

We have now filled an open spot in the team, with someone who is young, extremely fast, and knows how to defend.

Very happy with this.

Yep agree mate!

Fantastic deal.

Waiting for all the moaners to say we got shafted and that Langdon is slow and can’t kick in 3...2...1...

Our future second or the one we just got from Hawks? I assume its the latter as the deal got done straight after Frost

This is why I like Josh Mahoney, he looks at the big picture. Happy to take what's probably a loss on the Frost deal to get a win on the Langdon deal. Staying in both this and next year's 2nd round is a big win

??? You have no idea.

We have traded him for a 2nd rd pick, how is this overs.

if we climb up the ladder as we should and with all the academy, zone and father sons next year our 2nd pick will be 30 plus

How? Only moved 4 picks back this year, got the player we were after and only had to send back the Hawks 2nd round pick that will most likely be 30 something

Super deal.

So, for those keeping count:

We let go of Frost and landed Langdon for a bit of a shuffle with late picks and moving back 4 spots in this years second round.

Very happy with that.

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
