Yes the won again, this time they limped over the line at home to a struggling Saints.

The big think they achieved is once again they won the free kick count comprehensively at home by 25 to 12, they are simply a juggernaut, it’s amazing such consistency.

There’s no doubt the umpires are heavily influenced by the Eagles crowd.

LOL at Rance's dive just then, pathetic! I'm actually convinced that the commentary and hype around him is a giant prank on me and I'm part of a Trueman Show type thing this year. Absolute batshit crazy!

Tigers smashing them now and getting a percentage boost. Looks like both them and the Eagles will overtake our percentage tonight. We still have a firm hold on third place though with Swans over 20% behind us.

Brilliant first paragraph lt. The fawning by darcy at the post match was sickening. Empty vessel commentator so common on ch 7 ( excl daisy who seems smarter than all of them)

Seeing as we're a few hours off game time, here is the best cryptic clue of all time IMO.  The answer is a common five letter word.

HIJKLMNO

Water.

ps the game was yesterday...

'Water'  is correct ... the letters H to O = H2O = water.

ps this is the non-MFC game thread ... games still to come.  :)

OK so Richmond have a fraction better percentage now but if they lose next round and we win we will still overtake them.

Rance should get a fine for that ridiculous dive he just took. He didn't even get pushed in the back. His opponent just nudged his arm and Rance went flying.

Kane Cornes is calling for him to be fined, he recalls 6-7 incidents and he continues to get away with it.

If Rance was an ice hockey player he would spend most of his time in the penalty box for embellishment.

Surely we will get at least 1 upset today.. all three game are chance for a boilover.

I won't be watching the entire Tigers / Druggers replay so can anyone please tell me the quarter and time of the much discussed (latest) Rance dive?

Thanks

There should be a mercy rule ...

Not when we are 100+ points ahead though

The drug cheats are excruciatingly bad. Goddard should retire. I hate Goddard, I hate the drug cheats, I hate the Toiges. What a crap match. I think I'll do a cryptic crossword.

Goddard is just so likeable, isn't he (NOT)!!

Did he abuse any of his team-mates this week or swipe the jelly babies?

Big game between Pies and Dockers today.

I have not rated Collingwood this year. Bit like Saints I thought and marginally above Essendon.

Last five weeks or so have been good for them.

Not sure that my psyche could deal with a resurgent Collingwood not to mention the Eddie/Bucks show.

Go Dockers

Looks like no upset in Game 1 today. What’s next?

Go Dockers

I'm the opposite.

I've watched a fair bit of Collingwood, and I think they're nearly the real deal. Outside of West Coast Richmond Melbourne Sydney, they're the only team I think could actually win the flag if everything goes well. Yes there's Adelaide but injuries have destroyed them this year.

With Nth possibly finishing as high as 6th after this round... how is it that ‘Melbourne hasn’t beaten anyone yet...’??

You don't understand; North weren't good yet when we beat them. How could they have been? I mean, they lost to Melbourne!

Woeful stuff from Brisvegas.  Very disappointing.

I dont see how you can put the words Collingwood and win the Flag in the same post without it being [censored}? Mods??

Was hoping for a Freo upset over the Pies but looking at their team it will be very hard...  two debutantes and a bunch of other kids.... must be an extremely young and inexperienced team.

Interesting perspective Chook.

I suppose I based my opinion on their 2017 season and couldn't really see much upside.

So far they have proved me wrong.

Pendlebury having a fantastic season along with Sidebottom and Treloar hitting their straps is a good base. Not too sure where their goals come from

Watch them lose today and make me look like a dill.

I'm a real fan of how Bucks has got them playing this year though, and I kinda want them to win big today to set up a massive QB next week.

Can’t stand Hoskin-Elliott. He just kicked a goal, still tied with Jesse as the only two to have kicked a goal every game.

I can't understand why commentators are saying this is some sort of competition between the two. Ben Brown had 1 game without a goal and he's probably on track to win the Coleman (but here's hoping Jesse will beat him) - I don't think a player kicking a goal in every game in a season is some sort of big achievement.

I agree with you, had to maintain some minor interest in this game.

If we can't beat Freo I'll go he for tiggy. They're battling. No system that I can discern.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
