Congrats to Jonesy on a marvellous career. I fully believe he can be around for the 6 or 7 years he thinks he can be.

It's crazy to think that Jordan Lewis of all people is very likely to be the games record holder at the Melbourne Football Club ahead of David Neitz before long. He's got 14 games to go to reach that mark. Full credit to him. He won't have his Hawthorn fans at the game to recognise 300 and 307 but they are still going to be legitimate accomplishments (if and when they come).

I hope all Melbourne supporters get out to acknowledge it (but secretly I hope Jonesy's still around long after to claim back the record for the stalwart Dees).

I will celebrate his 300th as a great of the game but the 307th is meaningless. It’s about how many times you front up in the red and blue.

I imagine there will be few that will ever reach 300 again after this last of the pre-sport science days crop goes, so Jones may well end up the forever-longest-serving Dees player when (and it's been more when than if in my mind for a few years now) he reaches that 307 mark.

Some great words from Jack Viney and Nathan Jones on social media today.

It's been pretty s..t being a demons supporter over the past decade but we get to walk away from all the lousy defeats every weekend.

This bloke has had to front up every Monday and every pre-season and lead the club. 

Great to see him finally enjoying his footy.

Lewis is on 29 so has 278 to go, Jones only has 57 to go. I have a sneaking suspicion Jonesy might get there first.

It would be fantastic if Lewis gets there,  as it means that he is contributing well and the team is getting those benefits. 

It would be rather challenging for him to make it to 100 club games.

Nathan Jones record will stand along very nicely with David Neitz, Melbourne and AFL Hall of Famer.
