My son was coward punched. Hit a hard floor. Knocked unconscious. Chipped teeth, broken nose, face cut/swollen. Thankfully no permanent brain damage.

The Gaff punch wasn't a coward punch at least. Brayshaw was facing him.

The comments that Gaff could face gaol time if charged are clueless. First time offenders NEVER get gaol time.

Sorry to hear your young bloke got whacked, bingers.

I think the coward punch has or is starting to take in different circumstances now. You can be facing and looking at  someone but if you’re unaware of a blow about to be thrown then you’re gonna be in strife. I guess the term ‘king hit’ was more likened to getting punched from behind.

I have had a couple of implants over the years at about 3 to 5k each. Not cheap but not $100K I think. Just for the record.

I was going on what the Freo Medical report to the tribunal said that he would require years of dental work. So it’s not just the cost of the implants. I’m not sure about the detail. Safe to say it will be very costly.

8 weeks.

Got off lightly, considering he executed a solid fist to the face of an innocent opponent and then kept running

brayshaw will still be in recovery long after that.

[censored] Weak as usual AFL, but after Barry Hall was cleared to play in the 2005 GF, i expect nothing from the Tribunal

I love those black and white movies where they go from a long shot panning into a close up across a room, you can hear the old record player playing a tune and then hitting a scratch and skipping back and playing again.... skipping and again... and again.... and again... and again.... and again.... and again......... zzzzzzz

Could you send Simpson to the gallows for it? Possibly not, but if you’re happy that you can see that it was one coach 4 votes to Gaff but want to belabour the pedantic point that technically we don’t know if it was “he’s a good bloke really and I gave him a little cuddle” Simpson or “it was an off ball hit that had me comforting his distraught mother” Lyon, (paraphrasing), then I guess I’m learning my annual-ish lesson of why I read but do not generally participate in internet fora.

On 8/6/2018 at 8:47 PM, IDee said:

Normally enjoy your work MS but it’s definitely one coach 4 votes, presumably Simpson because of the two how could it be Lyon, I’ll explain below:

Yeo must have two fives, as he got 10.

So the only way Redden can get 7 is a 4 and a 3.

That leaves one ‘4’ still to give and as nobody else got 4 or above except for Gaff it must be him.

You guys look very silly now, given its been revealed that Ross Lyon gave Gaff the AFLCA 4 votes rather than Simpson.

SWYL, I think it's you who should be ashamed and apologise for your unfounded outrage and fake news pedalling.

IDee, I think the annual-ish lesson you should have learnt is to avoid the patronising coach quotes and maths explanations that aren't proven.

Gloat finished.

Outrage. Moonie you were right. You must be so excited!!!

just ordered another Gin & Tonic at the pool bar.

Gaff getting Coaches votes on sunday is just wrong, but it wasn’t my call.

Lyon has always been original

I guess that's as close to an apology as we'll get.

That you have been called out and look ridiculous is exciting. Thanks.

I’ve never seen a breakdown of ALFCA votes, unsure it’s released.

Mathematics is at fault for that being 4 votes from one coach.

I don’t think it’s emotional to assume Simpson gave him the 4 votes. But yes, that’s my assumption.

I believe MSF is right as it's the only mathematical possibility.

No it's not. You're making this vote equation up. Fake maths. Where's your evidence to say Simpson 4/Lyon 0? Happy to apologise if I'm wrong, will you and SWYL apologise if your opinion cannot be substantiated?

From the evidence so far, its not Simpson who should be ashamed, it you and SWYL

@Moonshadow Your ‘Fake maths’ comment was funny. I think it was meant to be funny?

But yes, my assumption was wrong that Simpson gave 4. I withdraw, apologise and stand corrected.

If (and it is a huge 'if') WCE had some class they would foot the entire medical bill. I reckon they should raise the issue on AFL360, WCE has stunk with how they have handled it so far.

You expected more? They are serial offenders since entering the league.

Gaff's lawyers 'Great Gaffe' - Grace just said: "My submission is you should impose a penalty at the lower end of the range, which commences at three years... I mean three weeks."

OOps, that is a serious freudian slip!!

Probably still thinking about when he was repping TWSNBN......

No not from WCE.

The plot thickens.
Angus to meet with Gaff during the week.
A hand shake , no hard feelings ...... See ya at the Demons for pre-season.

Hmm I think Gaff should put his hand up for it, he put his hand (clenched) up on Sunday to Brayshaw. He should look at paying up for it?

Watch the Nathan Jones interview on the club website and it also has a couple of hints that we are certainly in the hunt.

I have very strongly suspected for months that we are a huge chance, and nothing from the past couple of days dampens that hope.

Humble pie absolutely taken and I’m  not sure I’d have been as restrained as this if I was gloating in your place, so good on you for that.

Though to be fair the maths was spot on; the psychology way off!

I don’t feel sorry or sad for Gaff. At least not yet. He smashed a kid in the face for no reason. It was no accident. Whoops I meant to punch your chest? Screw that

He looked right at him and lined him up. Don’t care if it was a brain fade or whatever, this will have a big impact on brayshaw life and on his family.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
