Fair bump..

He swung a punch spontaneously- he wouldn’t have had time to think about where it may have landed. A poor defence. The fact that landed where it did and caused the damage that it did makes him culpable whatever the supposed intention. He has forfeited the right to play again this year - but I hope he is allowed to move on after he’s served his time.

Agree. Just because he works in the media doesn't mean he can't speak his mind about the media.

Troy Maclure being clever suggesting he'd best not bite the hand that feeds him if he not want to sleep with the fishies.

Here is Campbell Brown's reply.

BANG!!!!

Gaff has flown to Melbourne for several reasons;

1. To front up to the tribunal like a good man and accept his punishment and give his apologies;

2. To meet with the Dees and tell them he is coming next year and discuss his guernsey number.

3. To play golf with Angus and Jonesy and discuss club chores for 2019, and

4. To hang out with The Bugg.

Oh! and;

5. Tell north he ain’t coming.

Can you summarise? Was he paraphrasing Demons FD position, or his personal position. Would the club let his personal feelings prevent them from adding to the club's chance of a flag?

Jonesy said the exact opposite today. Said it would be awkward at the start but "water would go under the bridge".

I didn't have the same take of Gus' comments, tbh.

But Gus was very strong on the penalty.  Gus said:  "I will be very upset if he gets less than 7 weeks, very upset."  @ about the 10.00 minute mark of the podcast.

Gus is clearly and rightly not happy.

Edit:  Gus also said that his brother, Andrew did not play golf with Gaff last week...

Loved this comment after Stevo's stupid tweet

"BREAKING: Explosives and drug dogs spotted at Melbourne airport waiting for the wanted terrorist and international drug trafficker Andrew Gaff."

This whole thing is very emotive, even Pavlich and Ross Lyon are being a little 'expansive' with the truth, both saying that the hit was 100 meters off the ball, blah blah....

You can clearly see it's only about 20-30 meters in front of the ball.

Media and Journos seem to be getting carried away in the hype,... Can't recall an AFL season with so much going on this late in the season!!!

Far be it for me to comment, but an apt sentence would be until Andrew returns to football.( Brayshaw that is )

Actually the Feds are at the Airport to arrest Stevens before he slithers back into his hole.

Did I just overhear on the news Paul Roos putting the boot into Gil for being out of touch and something about integrity of the game?

I reckon it will be 5 weeks. All this talk of 12 months, police charges etc is a joke. What a soft society we have become.

Five weeks .... what, so, if the Eagles bravely battle through without their star mid, he can play in the GF?

Utter BS.

However many weeks he gets it must be enough for him not to play again this season.

You're right, we are such a soft society for thinking that punching someone and breaking teeth and jaws is not worthy of severe punishment. We should ease up on domestic violence, one punch strikes and drink driving too. Soft!

A certain ex AFL player benefited from our softly softly judiciaries views on domestic violence it has just been reported.

How can people want to be the hanging judge on hits in an aggressive physical contact game and at the same time as a nation we condone mentally training our young men to be paid Killers for the armed forces or lately our police forces.?

And then these armed forces folk when they get home are de-arranged ticking time-bombs, in the right circumstances.

We talk about terrorists coming back here as dangerous, yet we train our own of a similar ability.

....  having our cake, and eating it as well.

some people will always find ways to barrack for their own views... no matter what.  without need of question, or a mirror.

Are you seriously suggesting that we should not have a defence force trained to do hard things when necessary in the defence of our country? Or maybe you mean not letting them back into our society once they have put their lives on the line because they have been trained to kill bad people?  Just what do you mean?

Can't say I see a police escort in those photos. I see Gaff bypassing the media at the gate by getting a lift in a ute, maybe driven by airport staff. Looks more like Gaff's support person standing behind him.

But, of course, the media scrum are pizzed off at being snubbed, so any sensational headline is therefore acceptable to them.

The Hun online now saying it was a 'security escort', so even they have toned it down. Great comments under that tweet too.

Edit. And The Age says Gaff was "taken directly from the tarmac to a waiting car by airport staff to avoid a throng of media in the airport."

Hardly a police escort for fear of his life. But that's the media... and lazy people believe it.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

    The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there.When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

    The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
