Think the ball moved around the ground a lot slower back then.

It’s also worth noting that every ball up that BT complained about the congestion, there was not a single secondary ball up; it cleared the congestion into space every time.

Neither team put a lot of pressure on the ball carrier so that's not surprising.

GWS are insipid tonight and allowing the Cats to walk around them.

Anyway, have to be up early so time for bed and read a good book before nodding off...amazing I got past the first Q of this snooze fest.

This loss pulls GWS back to the pack.  Roll the Saints and we are just two points behind the GIants and a game from 3rd spot on the ladder.

Gees footy is a poor sport to watch at the moment. No highlights  just congestion

like watching under 10s footy  spread out lads!

Pet -- the big problem is to beat the Saints at all, yet alone crush them (which we should).

Only by crushing wins the next three weeks will any trust be regained.

GWS will struggle to make the 8 a lot of ordinary players in that team and their not playing with any conviction.

Just watching roaming brian and he pointed out mitch clarke doing some photography work for the cats. Gee it feels like a lifetime  ago he was on our list.

[censored] Clark he's a [censored] like Scully.

Good bored, switch over to watch the old 60's tv show batman (So corny)..kids liked it.

Even with a group of their top players out where is the giants amazing depth.  Given the high number of top 15 picks they have had they aren't too different from any other team.

Interesting comment during the game was the lack of change in plan by infield leaders during quarters to stop groups of goals against them.  Not waiting for the coach at breaks.  Happy the giants are not developing how many feared.

The media are banging in about Hawkins getting suspended for touching the hand of an ump. Wtf?! You can tell there was nothing interesting happening

He was reaching for the GWS player.  Ump got in the way.

All the people complaining of the game being boring.

Crushing wins should be a given, it what comes after that matters, a point that needs to be reinforced to the players. After round 3 some people were advertising the fact we were 3rd on the ladder and we all know what happened after that.

Saints Etihad

Suns Gabba

Blues MCG

Crows Traeger Park

Dogs Etihad

Pies MCG

Bye

Get to the bye undefeated and then maybe some trust will be regained. There is no more honourable losses for this club.

Not overly surprised about the Giants.

The Doggies banner at the 2016 Preliminary Final summed it up.

'Our club was founded in blood and boots,

Not AFL focus groups'

When you play for a plastic club, expect efforts commensurate with a mercenary.

This run with an AFL funded team of top round draft picks and solid senior players won't last. Then what? They won't have attracted any more fans in Western Sydney than when they started.

I'd believe that if there actually was a GWS player within arm's reach at the time.  Looks more like he realised what he was doing and pulled back.  But what he should be got for is his frequent belting a player who takes a mark against him.  Serial offender.

Yep, another prime FTA slot tonight for the worst team in the league.

A certain snooze on Ch7:  Adel vs Carlton!!

Went to the game, cold and terrible to watch, contemplated leaving at half time as the skill level was atrocious. GWS were deplorable, no fight, no run, no leadership. They do have plenty of injuries but Cats have a few out also and Danger and Selwood didn't dominate. Tim Kelly is a star and Ratugolea can be a serious star if he gets his timing right going for marks.

Shiel seemed like the only one providing run and drive for GWS, can we get him? When the AFL planned the fixture they would've thought short odds to assume that this would be a highly skilled Friday night game but it was everything else but that, no good marks or freaky goals that I can remember.

A loss to GWS helps others in the race as they could've gone clear, but from what I've seen this year of them they aren't genuine contenders and I agree with Carey.

Today's games I'd like to see Dogs thump Suns so their confidence takes a beating, Bombers to upset the Hawks.

Feeling a bit nervous about Dees game, its one we should win very comfortably (40+) but we all know our bipolar performances too well, a loss to a severely depleted and woefully skilled STK would raise serious questions IMO.

Fingers and testicles crossed.

GWS' scoring capability is built around its talls and Greene. Take them out and they struggle to score. Watched the first quarter and while they had numerous entries into their forward line it was obvious which way the game would go.

Not sure about the length of the various injuries but no doubt it will shape their season.

Richmond are blessed by their continued run of almost no injuries.

Essendon v Hawks could be interesting especially the aftermath if Essendon are soundly beaten. The sun is just coming out so I may head in....

Stop Kennedy and everyone is a chance against the Swans.

Watched North against Port last week live.... North no chance unless Swans kick themselves out of it. (6:16 or similar).

Not so sure about that, their back 6 go alright, so does Parker. With Buddy being out it makes them unpredictable. North are just a bit all over the shop.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
