Great move by the club.  We were outgrowing Luna Park and being able to have it back at the 'G can only be a good thing!

Not sure my Grand daughter would agree Wb. She loved going to Luna Park and it was a sneaky way for me to add the Dees to her fun.

Not sure I can entice her to G she will ask what are we doing Pa? Have some thinking to do on how to get her along.

There are rides and games that will be set up in front of gate 2 at Yarra Park. There will be plenty of kids activities. Shouldn't be hard to convince

First world problems.

My 3 year old only knows 1 players name and it is he that shan’t be spoken of at Port Adelaide.

Here is the clubs notice of Family Day next Sunday. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-02-27/2018-family-day-guide

It seems all our sponsors will be there with fun activities for kids:

  • Enjoy badge making and colouring in at our Arts and Craft station!
  • iSelect Obstacle Course
  • Zurich photo booth
  • Handball “around the world” at the China Southern Airlines handball target station
  • Visit the Sporting Globe virtual kicking booth
  • Additional activations from club partners including Fernwood, Hertz, Chisholm, New Balance, Haymes and VGRF
  • Face painting, balloon animals, posters, giveaways and more!
  • Melbourne's AFL and AFLW teams will be presented on stage at the conclusion of the day

I suspect there wasn't enough space at Luna Park to host all these activities.  The MCG brings people closer to our spiritual home and gives sponsors the rare opportunity to interact directly with members/fans.

Good weather forecast so should be fun for all!

Take her to Luna Park after. Simple.

So,  was going today?

I am not there [and frankly didn't know about it] however as an East Melbourne resident I was cursing about all the loud speaker announcements blaring out for the last few hours.  Suddenly I heard "A Grand Old Flag" [1st verse only] sung with gusto.  Now they can make as much noise as they like! :D

To anyone that attended.

Did anyone see Harmes out there?

I noticed Robbo didn't call out his number and name on stage at the end when all players of both teams were getting called up.

More curious than anything as Robbo made it clear why Daisy was absent but no mention of Harmes.

Just back from the family day at the G.  The day was held in the car park just south of Jolimont station.

I looked at the empty field it was being held in and imagined a training ground running NW to SE, its about the size of a little bit smaller footy field eg carltons ground. No trees  to remove only level the ground and install goal posts and paint the lines.

As cricket Victoria is now at our old training ground, its only fair we take their old training ground. Could we move our training gym and the rest to the now no longer used rooms of cricket Victoria?

Also use the new levelled oval used today for the family day.

Arnt we the football arm of the MCC?  So  train at the MCC.

I was there and no didnt see him. Interesing

Just got back. Went with my younger brother and his niece and nephew. For a 22 degree day, it was really hot. My legs feel really sunburn. The little one got his photo with Jones, Hogan and Gawn. Haven even held him up for the photo. Bought my niece her first Melbourne jumper, so hopefully that’ll help bring her back to Demons.

The lines for Hogan and Gawn were punishing. With no shade, I’m sure I got pretty badly burned. Did anyone notice that a few of the female players were doing the face painting? Got a good shot with my niece.

Dunno how we did it at Luna Park for so long. Was really packed just there.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
