Preseason training ramps up a bit more as from this Monday with the official return of the most experienced players for that all important month before the New Year break and then, before we know it, footballs will be kicked in anger once again. ?

Even though most players have already been putting in the hard yards for the season ahead, this is always a bit of a milestone week on the calendar when the squad gathers together and of course, it ends with the addition of new blood on Friday night.

Looking forward to the reports and analysis and let’s keep it in good spirit.

Going to be phascinating, WJ. It's has been a long, thoughtful wait - or so it seems, this year.

Pre-defection and Tex dummy spit, he was lauded at the Crows for his professionalism, fastidious preparation and leadership. With an injury free preseason he will have a rip snorter of a season next year. And hes only 21!

Wowee!

What time is Monday's training?

It was mentioned to me at Friday’s training that this Monday it starts at either 11 or 11:30am. All players are back, including Jake Lever.

I’ll get a few more shots on Monday, but won’t be able to post them until Tuesday as I’ll be flying back to Sydney on Monday evening.

What is that photo?! He looks 10 years old.

That said, Lever could quickly become my new favourite Demon (although he has a bit of competition these days, unlike in years gone past).

Starting early is the perfect way for him to commence at this club. Would like to see him announced in the LG at the start of next season.

And also for him to toss the coin in our first game against the Crows before marking up against Tex at the opening bounce, and then throwing a few Glenn Archer-style feints in his direction just to let Tex know what he's in for for the next few hours.

That'd probably elevate him into new favourite Demon status of all time.

Looking forward to reports from anyone who is lucky enough to be attending today.  Pre-season training reports are just the remedy to get me back in the swing of things after the doldrums set in in late August.  Thanks in anticipation

ps.  any confirmation (or hopefully) otherwise about Jonesy's calf injury would be appreciated.

The AFL website making a massive song and dance about Watts returning to training a whopping one week earlier than required...as if half the league isn't already rerturning early to pre season.

I think it's getting to the point soon where a player will be seen as lazy if they simply return by the required date.

It's newsworthy if he never did it with us, though. But if he did, lazy journalism.

Do you reckon Trenners packed Wattsy  into the car with the idea they were going to the beach then the pub, only for Trenners to pull out of the drive way and head left instead of right... and go to training rather than beach ala taking the dog to the vet?

But wouldn't he be returning today if he was still with us?

PA made the finals, we did not. It' been 11 weeks since we capitulated to Coll and 8 since PA last played. I believe our players come back earlier as a result of finishing earlier.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
