Shyte missed it I am in Osaka forgot about the 2 hour time difference. Sounds like it was a great interview. My favourite player after Robbie.

What are you doing in Osaka, Earl? PM me if you get towards Aichi. It would be nice to catch up with another member of the inner city intelligensia.

Probably my favourite part was the Exorcist story (the "kiss" game). Exactly the kind of embellishment you want to hear in the footy half of the story, but in the car ride home, they weren't a freak forward and an elite CHB, they were just two sons in the car with their mother, going through the range of emotions a bittersweet moment like that can bring up. Brought a tear to my eye.

I still cant believe this happened it was like a dream.

Hearing the great man speak for 2 hours...  it seemed surreal.  He really is a mythical figure.  When he said goodbye and hung up the phone, it really sunk in what had just happened.  And that there's every chance we may never hear from him ever again.

So glad hes doing well... 2 kids, living on the northern coast of NSW...  and he confirmed all the rumours were true about running a fishing charter and working on oil rigs...  amazing interview and it got very deep when he went into his fathers passing and other personal matters.

Funny that he almost didn't play in the Elimination Final vs Essendon as he drive the wrong way to the ground and got there with 10 minutes to spare.... then kicked a lazy 8 goals.

And he ran into Jeff Farmer in a nightclub in Perth just after Farmer left the Demons for Freo. The great man was clubbing in Perth early 2000's, well what do you know hey. Those cool little tidbits made the interview so special.

Unbelievable the impact this guy made in just 47 games of footy.  i was gonna say it was like Jurrah x 1000. But that doesnt even do it justice.  The only comparison must be John Coleman who funnily enough he shares the record for fastest player to 100 goals.  Though he played half as many games as Coleman, and had the advantage of being one of the great characters of the game.   AJ was one of a kind.

Jaka, you're a hero and easily the most exciting and talented player I have ever seen in the Red and Blue.

How are you going to top that Andy?

One of the greatest interviews I have heard.  The insights he gave into playing with the greats like Stynes, Viney, Obst, was fantastic and he had me rolling around with laughter telling that Exorcist story.

An interview with Jayden Hunt post Norm Smith medal might come close but otherwise I can't see it being topped.

Great interview, it was fantastic reminiscing on that era of his career and our club. You could really sense his passion for the club and he seems like a great bloke.

Well done guys, I missed this last night, look forward to listening to it. Does anyone have highlights of the bag against Mick Martyn?

Brilliant interview with one of my all time favorites. An enigma, a legend simply breathtaking to watch .

Imagine going to the footy each week and seeing a bloke kick 8 or 9 goals every week.

Thats what it was like when we had this guy playing for us.

At least they credited us.

Be nice if they flicked you a worthy donation too, Andy.

Tweeted by the club too..  Well done. I'm saving it for the drive to work this afternoon

Fantastic job. Well done.

On a serious note it underscores the importance of oral histories. I hope the club is doing something to ensure that the history is preserved. An example could be all captains and/or all players over 100 games. Hearing their voices is so emotive.

Just saw the article. Well done to you and all the staff here on Demonland, getting media recognition is pretty handy.

Another thanks for all that you do, it can't be easy trying to maintain and control all the madness that happens on these forums. You do a massive effort and I hope it doesn't go unappreciated

If your workplace is 2 hours away you'll have a great drive. :D

Might have to drive to work, then home, and back into work again. Worth the effort.

@Demonland, congrats again on a fantastic achievement! I caught the last 2 minutes of the great man last night (and the breathless hosts at the end!) - can't wait to listen in full this evening.

I'm glad Demonland got a nod in the article on afl.com, too. Being a part of Demonland has become like a family/sanctuary/clubhouse for me, it's a proud moment!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
