This is just ridiculous. It's not some Sunday morning kick to kick with your mates. These are professionals, working in a professional environment. Everyone knows what the rules are.

Grasping at straws.

Yep, every employee uncritically loves their employer in priority to their fellow employees irrespective of how their fellow employees are treated (with whom they actually have a friendship).

Feels like I'm trying to convice Kansas that Earth is actually part of a heliocentric solar system - not the centre of the universe and not 6,000 years old.

Bloody hell.

Nope, it's the German 6th Army.

They got smashed in Stalingrad by the way.

Didn't play to their strengths.

I must admit I would have thought that any new contract involving Jack ...would compensate him from that club. It should, but  I am wondering though. How desperate have Melbourne actually been to 'rid ' themselves of such a 'festering influence' ( not my description ....but that of others )

It will be very interesting at some point to know who will pay Jacks salary for the next two years.

It will be very interesting to see how a lot of things pan out.

Port got the most out of Toumpas, so I'm sure they'll unlock the key to Jack.

About sums up what you think this is about, some kind of popularity contest.

The word that's missing in your post, as in many of a similar ilk is "respect". Apparently many Melbourne players like Jack Watts. But do they respect him as a player and team mate? Same with the club - the players may well disagree on a personal level with the decision to move Watts on. But do they respect it?

I'm sure that the players understand only too well that to make an omelette you have to break eggs. Even popular ones.

The original Oak Dairy milk bars (just outside Newcastle) used to make a fabulous milk shake.

As my mate Andrea Bocelli used to say..... Time to say Good Bye !!!

IF Watts goes for pick 30 then that is conclusive proof that Goodwin and his FD have rocks in their head. Particularly when they said they would only accept an ACCEPTABLE trade for Watts.Talk about a fire sale. Pick 30 or even later what the hell!  IF Jack goes to Port, how have they managed to import so many established players without giving much back? Any one know?

Channel 9 news having Jack on in ten minutes. Apparently. Set to announce that he has chosen Port Adelaide. Dees bending over and taking a high 2nd rounder. Honestly, we better have plans for these picks, coz right now, we have been paying overs on every deal we make.

Spot on mate. They have picked up quality in return for.little..we have sold the farm for a 21 year old potential star and will recruit a bunch of fringe types in the mould of.Vandenberg, Bail, Mitchie etc etc. Dumb move. I couldn't care loss if Watts left, but to get bugger all in return gives me.the [censored]$$$$. Lever can't kick mind you, and we just gave up our best user...we still have not one player with elite foot skills in our side..Viney can't kick, Jones can't kick, hibberd can't kick, Oliver refuses to kick...where does it end....

I hope we go the other way and take all kids with our picks. The past few years we have traded in Melksham, Hibberd and Lewis. Before that it was Vince. Now we are bringing a ready made player in Lever. Oscar will have further de eading into next year. Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw and Salem a year older. Across the board our side is going to be a lot more mature than last year (especially physically). The extra year into Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Salem and Hunt - will be massive for us. We can afford to take kids in this draft IMO. We don't need mature bodies as much as previous years, because we have developed them. They will be ready now.

Our very wet brigade, other than Maynard, arent all that promising from what ive seen King.  Whilst i agree we dont need any further dad's army type picks, i would also not want to go with more untried skinny draftees from here unless their body / physique says otherwise and they have speed and can hit targets by foot in a big way.

Would rather go for early to mid 20 offerings with same speed/kicking abilities (and or solid overhead marks) who have AFL experience (say 80 plus games), have already proven they have some talent at this level and a body that's also able to handle 23 rounds.  No more Gysberts, Mortons etc fcs

Herald Sun reporting Gary’s abletts sisters passing. Makes all this talk of Jack Watts somewhat redundant really.

2 things:

- Gold Coast, get the trade done

- Demons fans, a little perspective may go along way. It’s only footy

With which pick and how much cash?

Dees will want low second round pick this year.

Cats have pick 21, 34 and will get 35 for motlop. They will need to offer 34 or 35 to GC for Ablett and won’t give up pick 21 for watts.

Cant see Melbourne accepting 35

I can.  We arent that hard nosed and have shown that with the "Get Lever no matter what the cost!" trade.

The other clubs will be in no hurry to grab Watts given they know he is so poorly rated by us.  I cant see any trade for Watts until the last day or so even if he nominates someone (which he probably wont or cant).

Well that interview was a bunch of pure bull dust...he is in Adelaide for Bernies wedding and has not said he has chosen Port. Fake news

But you were so adamant in your previous two posts?

Nope. Not at all. It's about the human stuff.

Popularity contest? ?

Surely Melbourne wouldn't end up having to pay for any of Jack's contract if he goes to another club!?!!

Woyud it be reported as part of the trade if that was what they ending up agreeing to?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
