A very long one

And there goes all that momentum.

From 2 mistakes. They kick 2 goals.

Frustrating.

Put Tamc in the ruck. Gawn may be winning the hit-outs but he just isnt having any impact around the ground.

All I can say is thank God Hogan is back. we would be losing otherwise.

Grrrrr game starts at 4:10am over in the UK, I decide I'll set an alarm for around 3 quarter time and I was hoping to see us cruising to victory.

I know this is 1st world problems given not long ago any kind of win would do but we need to learn to pulverise lower teams. We should be murdering the Lions. Instead they're putting the fans through hell, again.

ANB's decision-making going inside 50 is almost the best in the team.

Hogan u beauty. 5 from 5.

Who daid we wete better off without him?

That broken collarbone has done the trick.....

Why did Stretch drop that chestmark?

Hibberd is god.

Was very clever to just get wiggle room to get off the kick.

I know we just want and need to win but a little bit of percentage protection would come in nice for next week.

The difference it makes when Hogan leads at the ball

Didn't feel like kicking a goal.

Hes improving.

Full credit to Lions though,,,,they have applied a lot of pressure.

Hogans absence in the year is why haven't 14-15 wins. Have missed him a great deal.

Good third quarter.

Jesse Hogan great

Pedersen great

ANB and Brayshaw superb

Dees need to run and kick goals.  Harmes for example  WTF kick a goal from 20 metres,

Jones and Oliver great but overhandballing. Need to kick it

Stretch. Vince. Wagner. Hannan. All struggling.

I said the second contest you twit. The bump on Clay Beams.

He elects to bump. He could have just kept his eye on the ball and impacted.

He regularly takes his eye off it and chooses to hit the body.

Keep the name calling out of it you halfwit.

Not up to AFL standard. Development seemed to have peaked early, isn't improving anymore.

Watts and JKH in for Wagner and Stretch next week.

Hannan has been poor but has credits in the bank.

15 points is not a clear need. We need to try and win by about 40 points. Probably won't happen. For crying out loud Melbourne don't lose it.

A few players not at it today: Stretch, Wagner, Harmes, Gawn well below par.

Jones, Hibberd, Melkshan, Pederse and Hogan carrying us today.

Big Q4 effort needed

Don't kid yourself, they've been very good. Enough of their players are decent, and can be damaging.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
