Brown will kick 130 goals for us next season. Bookmark it.

Closer to 150 if we fixed our forward entries into the 50!!! ?

So it would appear that we need to clear Tom McDonalds contract in order to get Brown? If that is the case, and now GWS showing interest in Jesse Hogan, it seems that Ben Brown to Dees is not going to happen. Which probably means he will end up at Essendon

ADD PETTY also !!!

Yes I think Harrison could be our forgotten man. Will have had this year to grow into his 198cm frame. We know he has good hands and can kick and goes into next season as a 21y.o.
Between Ben Brown (hopefully), Weid, Luke Jackson, Mitch Brown and Petty we should not short of quality tall forward options.

I wonder all the other teams that need a tall fwd aren't showing interest.  It is not as if he will be expensive either as a trade or sal package.

There can be a lot of reasons.  Sometimes managers wont talk to clubs and the clubs get the idea pretty quickly...

Sometimes there are also other reasons.

Id say our need is much higher than other teams and probably is reflected in the contract/package we offer relatively. Most of the top teams are set for key forwards. Most of the middle teams need to bolster their midfields as a greater priority or chasing cheaper targets. And the lower ones need to rebuild through drafts.   I think hes kinda fallen in our lap if it gets done. Fingers crossed

Based on that looks like Burgess is staying put which is hopefully right.

If Brown kicks 50, a fit Weid will snag 40 and Jacko 25. Not to mention the small guys scouting around for crumbs. The flag is ours!

Sorry, got ahead of myself....

The thing about this is it’s actually a chance of happening, so we are already better placed than 2020.

You can say what you like about Browns image, his run up or his flopping for free kicks, but he knows how to do the very thing our side can’t, kick goals.

Brown would be bananas if he didn’t come to us. Golden midfield, MCG, likely finalists, good crumbers. My guy at the club said they don’t know anymore than the rest of us. Could still stay at north was his last sentence

Saw this. Don't know how credible the guy is though, so I didn't mention it.

Also, if he is correct, well done, as no one has reported anything like this since and he's gotten it way ahead of everyone else.

I think he's been working a bit with FoxFooty, did their trade blog today as well, so must be at least not bad?

Possibly. His tweet was just before the stories started to break I think.

He also has connections to Bombers (most of his stuff is very Essendon friendly), so can believe that the Bombers perspective is that he's coming to us.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.
