MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18

Featured Replies

Great ins, get jones back and that's a brilliant team, I really really hope trenners does well he deserves itย

ย

Cannot understand the Trengrove selection but good luck to him.

The others are very important ins who together with an improving Hogan and Gawn should give us a chance against Port. Perhaps more importantly they should all be match fit for North and the run home.

Whats the feeling on garlett?

Has he been named as hes definitely playing, or are they giving him all the time he needs in case he can make it back for the game?

Mystery at this stage?

We are still $2.23 get on it that price won't last longย

Viney will be playing in pain, Tyson, Salem and Watts are coming off injury and Trengove hasn't played for 12 months.

I'm happy with the inclusions but we are facing an in-form Port Adelaide who have almost no injuries.

If he's namedย he is playing.

Psychologists ย all agree the best way to beat grief is by kicking multiple goals for the MFC.

1. Chris Donlon
15. Matthew Nicholls

Ugh!ย  Two of my least favourite three

ย

Nicholls hates us.ย

Trengove selection makes sense. Why bring inย a guy, that went through all he has in the past few years with confidence issues stemming from early captaincy and injuries, when half the side (and most of the midfield) are out of the team? Basically throwing him to the wolfs again with his career on the line. He'd have the limelight completely on him, with expectations that he'd have to carry the midfield in his first game back.

ย

I've got no doubt Goodwin's wanted him in the side the past few weeks. Goodwin noted "he's been in terrific form". I believe the past few weeks Goodwin's had to throw the lines in about Trengove being close and having to "work on things" as an excuse to avoid the real reason for Trengove's absence during the past few weeks of injuries to the team.ย

ย

This week in fact is the best possible time for Trengove to come in. We have our A grade midfielders back, which takes away the spotlight and reliance on Jack to HAVE to have a good game. This takes so much pressure off of him. Now he comes in knowing he doesn't have to be the star or the leader, but just play his role and be part of the group.ย

ย

No doubt he'll still be playing for a new contract, but this way the circumstances are tailored in his favour.ย

ย

Absolutely the right call by Goodwin and co.ย

Looks like I will be putting a few coins in the metaphorical swear jar .

I hate Nicholls- he's a trounced up affront to humanity.

When the revolution comes, and it will,I will have a special slow conflagration for this man.

Yep...ย  me tooย  :-/

I cant remember leaving a Matthew Nicholls game happy that it has been officiated well.ย  Even for neutral games not involving our lot.

The most consistently inconsistent umpire going around.

Made a h2h bet last night ?

Wouldn't be surprised if we're favourites by tomorrow.

Can we sneak Jurrah into the forward pocket.

how good would we be with the Jurrahcane up and firing now.ย

Liam Jurrahs demise was a sad moment and talent unfulfilled.ย

From the sounds of it, Viney has been playing in pain since last year. I think hell be fine. The others havent been out for that long like Gawn and Hoges. Jack is the unknown.

Port Adelaide injury list as of Tuesday.

Ryder - Test.

Broadbent - Test.

As of today.

Nil, assuming Ryder plays.

ย

This is the strongest 22 we've had on the park since round 1 I reckon.ย

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
