JKH and a rotation involving Lewis, Vince and or Petracca (If we get Hogan back)

A lot of people need to get out of the pre-2013 Demons mentality. Yes, we are missing a few mids, but we have the depth to cover it these days. JKH will be hungry, and you could do a whole lot worse than those other 3 rotating through the middle.

Hogan and Jeffy back will seal it for me - releasing Truck into the guts and Hunt back to half back. With Hogan presenting targets all the way up to the wing and Jeffy running in to space we should win easily.

Don't lose sight of the fact we are a far better team across the board, even with injuries IMO.

Viney Jonesy and Tyson are a huge loss . We will get smashed in the middle against Carlton and rely on a rebound game to sneak a win if we're lucky.

Surely you jest.

Carey could've won the olympic long jump with that leap backwards. He would've had to take a spatula to his shorts afterwards to get them off.

Mind you, they both looked stupid

Glenn Archer's standing in the game on and off-field is beyond question surely.  The junior footy incident last month is yet to play out, but I will back Archer every hour of every day of the week.

Some may have thought he looked stupid here, but he was prepared to pay that price to stick up for a mate that was undermined and a club that was ripped apart.

Now that incident is surely the definition of stupid. Yet to "play out" but the facts are known.

The rest of what you say is romantic hyperbole. They were two footballers squaring off like a couple of children in the schoolyard

Carlton are the worst clearance side in the comp. They have good players in there, yes, but they're also one of the worst contested ball winning sides. This is why they're 16th. We saw against Sydney that losing Viney alongside no Jones is huge but the deficiency was larger than those losses alone. We simply didn't get enough from most of the team in this area and almost everyone was down 2-6 CP on their season average. This makes a huge difference. If everyone plays their role and matches their season output thus far I don't see how Carlton gets close. The hyperbole in this thread about our injuries is just insane. We beat the Eagles in Perth without a KPF and with 3 guys running around on 1 leg.  We smashed Adelaide without a ruckman or KPF. Midfielders are a dime a dozen. We've won games this season in far more dire circumstances structurally. People need to get a grip.

Even with 8 wins on the board I still think we'll need a little luck to slip into the finals with our injury list.  I firmly believe we can make it and we should have a fit list to pick from which means we can cause some havoc, but the next three weeks will tell us plenty about our chances.  Win 2 and we're almost there.  Anything else leaves us on the edge.

True to your name WB. I'm with you...mostly based on the injury list, which is kind of stating the obvious. Huge game on Sunday.

You will see a different team on Sunday with 8 days rest under their belts.

Add those fresh players coming in too, and we should definitely be up and about. Intensity won't be a problem at all.

Your "two footballers" assertion is neatly putting Archer and Carey in the same box.

Glenn Archer is Mother Teresa compared to most of us here; and I won't even compare him with Carey.

Care to elaborate on your brilliant summation?

Maybe some form of reverse psychology from a longstanding long-suffering Demon fan - say you expect to lose and be wonderfully surprised when you win.

I hope your right and we win contested and uncontested possession counts . And are plus in the clearances.

May be a bit tarnished by reports of his recent actions at a suburban game. He then ran off after that apparently. Haven't heard much more about it in the last few days.

I wonder where this incident stands, because I believe he is a Nth Melbourne director.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
