Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Geelong players imposed ban on Steve Johnson. I'd look for an article to link but my PC 's running awfully.

I'm speechless . I  reckon he's still ahead of danger/wood and will get the last laugh !

I still wonder if Olisik supports Melbourne.  Never seen him say something positive about the club, only ever rocks up to bring up something negative.  He must support Richmond.

This if news pal.

Team  bonding at the expense of recovery , wonder if it was the whack they got from the club that left them flat this week .

Anyways move on . They are young men Im sure most players lets there hair down once or twice during the season and if they dont they should .

Hang on a minute, let me know if if got this right.

they had drinks after their VFL match and none of them were named as emergencies for the AFL team that was over in Perth at the time.

At what point are they allowed to be grown arse adults?

how is this in any way a problem? Doesn't sound like they caused any trouble anywhere and as long as they're at training Monday morning fit and ready to go how is it it any way the clubs concern what players do in their own time. Sound like team rules for the sake of having stupid rules

Hmmm maybe because the seniors were playing that night & if we get injuries (like we did) they'd have a 6 day turn around & going out on the [censored] hinders your recovery...

This is not our year.

Injury problems and discipline issues on and off field.

Admin and coaches need to sort this out.  I don't care if a couple of good players get pushed out.

Looking like another development year when we are a bees dick away from being contenders.

Also seems interesting on social media a lot of players have let their hair down last night... Not sure why the 4 players mentioned couldn't follow team rules & wait until this weekend to have a drink. I'd more than likely say they made a rule no drinking during this stretch of short breaks/big games & those 4 broke them

Lucky for them Bevo and Murphy thought differently in 2016.

I'm sure having 'a beer' is fine.  If they turn up at a recovery session still affected, then this is definitely not up to standard.  I dont know, but this is what I suspect has happened.

Perhaps celebrating their call ups a little early?

Anyone know what the club rules are? I would have assumed beers are OK after a Saturday game - Bernie's 200th springs to mind. I am genuinely intrigued as to what the rule is.

If the players got on the turps after Bernie's 200th vs Adelaide, it would certainly explain why we were so flat against the 17th place North the following week.

I'm of the understanding that the players are permitted to get on the sauce after a game provided we have at least an 8 day break until the next game.

My best guess is it's something like BBP writes - drinking after a game is probably fine when we have a longer break but probably not when we have a shorter one.

I would guess that the players knew or ought to have known not to go drinking last Saturday night given the 6-day turnaround to this week's game.

The worst thing about this is that three of them (JKH, Kennedy, Kent) were all in serious contention for selection this week. Did none of them want their spot in the team that badly?

They are allowed to drink on eight day breaks or basically not seven days before a game.

Is oft suggested much of footy is between the ears.  This awesome foursome just clarified how much goes on between theirs !!

So ah...yeah...list management gets easier some days .

Unless you are 1 of the 4 you have no idea what occurred

The club has handled it

Guys in 20's [censored] up, who would have thought

I find it quite astonishing that you defend this quartet of players given the circumstances of the injury list and available spots in the 22 that are there for the taking.

I guess those spots are for the players on the list that are totally invested in the club, have bought into the 'journey' that Goodwin speaks of so regularly, are driving the right behaviours to produce a strong culture at the club which will set is up for a sustained period of success.

FMD, Saty. I don't care if we're not in a position to know what actually went on - I couldn't give a stuff! And it's great the club has handled it - I mean as if they didn't have better things to do like pick the best 22 players available to hopefully pull off a remarkable victory against the Swans considering we'd played 4 games in 18 days!

You need to look at the bigger picture here. You commit a lot of your time to the club in volunteer hours and we all invest time, money and emotions into the club hoping that one day soon we'll win a flag. To achieve this, these "young blokes in their 20's" sign a contract and enter into an environment that gives them every chance to succeed at there profession but ultimately it's too easy to go a drink beers against club/team rules.

Pretty simple really.

How you can't be disappointed is beyond me.

Not defending the quartet because I don't know what specific parameters were set.  However, there is a possibility that the Club put in place a protocol for the 4 games in 18 days for the entire senior list without thinking through that the 6 day turnarounds and travel component didn't apply to the Casey fixture and therefore ought not apply to the Casey players.  There is also a possibility that the quartet thought for the same reason, that it didn't apply to them ie misunderstanding.   I'm fully supportive of the Club standing firm, would just advocate that the protocols put in place are well thought through.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
