WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

Featured Replies

We know nothing about him. At this stage pick 66 for a Casey player.  That is all you will get with that pick. Hope Goodwin and co can make him a better payer.

JW was completely different to the Lever trade.

Lever is a 21 yo AA player. Equivalent to hogan in value.

Your opinion is clearly based on emotions or you have no idea

End

i have no emotion for Watts..I have supported the trading of him from the start. I am only concerned about the way we handled the trade and the public declarations and the effect they had on his value. are you daft?

I haven't mentioned anything about Hogan being worth anything, because Hogan leaving is FAKE news.

We cleared out Watts to free Salary cap for Lever and future re-signings. I know this as FACT. So jump off ya high horse, realise you are not the only one with an 'opinion' who has gathered first-hand facts on this issue.

Yes!  How dare you welcome a new player to the club!!

Everyone draw the curtain and sit alone in the dark!!

Huh? read the context of my thread.

I wish Balic the best, and us getting him for pick 66 is a good trade for us. But he's going to have to push himself very hard to make the 22, hope he and all our players are putting in every effort to fight to get into the 22, but at this point he has been recruited for midfield depth.

My post referred to the stupid 'Will be better than Watts' comment above mine.

Speak for yourself, I've seen his pre-draft highlights package twice. Gun.

Twice?! Has the Watts thread been closed off?

If that was the meaning of your post then I apologise.

In fairness though, the context of the thread is ‘welcome to the Melbourne football club’... why not just write your second paragraph instead of feeding Watts bashers on a Balic thread?? (Or quote the post you’re responding to)

But, like I said, apologies for the misunderstanding.

Name a single highlights package of any player that wouldn't impress?  Thats why it's called  "highlights" . MFC -destination club for the homesick

Where is the der fred button when you need it?

I saw him play against us!

He's got some talent if he can get his head right.

Trade for pick 66 is fair. A one year contract is also fair. Well done to the club for at least getting one deal right this year.

Normally I quote, but given that it attracts the person that you are quoting back to the thread, I didn't really want to bother!

If Harley gives 100% 100 % of the time tackles and contests he will be better and more usefull than Jack

My point lost on you?

Is this the first 'Harley' to ever play for the MFC?

Welcome, Harley. Let's hope he's a bit of a surprise packet.

Sorry I missed the sarcasm ?

Low risk trade, if it works fantastic, if it doesn't, well we took the same punt as we would be had we taken pick 66 to the draft.

Nice move given we have so many mid range picks this year we can't even use them all.

Welcome Harley and best of luck!

Sheesh this is starting to make me look like I don't like Balic, and I've never seen him play!!!

Again your comment is not true. Balic may develop a stronger work ethic, he might try harder, he may tackle more than Watts by the end of his career,  but trying to compare these players just serves no purpose. Why would someone even want to compare both of these players, different styles, positions, age etc... Balic has played how many games? why would anyone think it worthwhile comparing to Jack Watts except to bash Jack on this board?

Using your logic Haydn Crozier will be better than Jake Stringer, why even bother making the comment in the first place?

Lets just welcome the player to the list, rather than comparing him to players who aren't on this list anymore!

Edited by Ouch!

I like the fact that he's only on a 1 year contract as opposed to the Michie's, Newtons and Riley's of this world that clogged the list for 2-3 years.

His stat-line for that day (in his second game) if anyone is interested: 15 disposals (6 contested), 4 marks, 5 tackles and a goal.

Edit:

And in his third AFL game (the WA derby): 19 disposals (9 contested), 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal.

Anyone know what his "personal problems" were?

that's personal info, but I can tell you he came 3rd in peels b&f, only played 7 games with 6 bog's and he's only 20.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
