I'm not a fan of 2 rucks, especially when we have solid and capable relief in Weed and TMac.

Then how have we persuaded a ruck that has been complaining about no game time to join us? He's gotta be worked in.

I agree it's a mystery, particularly since I think we'll struggle to fit Hogan, TMac and Weed into the same line up. Adding Preuss just makes it harder.

Max was obviously struggling towards the end of the final series and he was worked over by the Lycett/Vardy combo. I think this will happen a bit next year by other sides thus we will need at times to play 2 genuine rucks. Not to mention what could happen if Max is injured. Preuss is priority 1 IMO.

Happened vs Grundy/Cox on QB too...

Max can't do it all, and if he does go down I sure as hell don't want our best forward in TMac getting dragged away to provide average cover.

This will extend Maxs career. We may even be able to give him a game or two off per season when the opposition warrants.

Get Preuss!

The only way you can play 2 rucks is if the second one is a dangerous forward target.

Nathan vardy would have been a good get when he was on the market for this reason.

I don’t see pruess being any more than backup and it’s weird that he’d want to come to us when sides like the cats, dogs and eagles are desperate for a number one ruck

Cats, Dogs, Crows, Blues, Bombers, Saints, Port all looking for a number 1 ruck and theirs are near the end, Gawn only 26. Very interesting.

Is this the steven may thread or the preuss thread?

Just saying it was confirmed we sat down with May. It's still looking like he is our 4th or 5th target on the wishlist aka not happening.

You’re saying that Vardy is a dangerous forward.

Vardy is an absolute spud!

I’m saying vardy can play forward. Pruess can not. If you’re going to play two rucks the secondary ruck has to be able to play forward

I'd argue that he'd need to be able to play both forward and back. Intercept defender and bomb it in long option to either mark or bring ball to ground.

Max can play forward.

I'd be playing Preuss about 10 games a year against the taller sides and non finalists and having him ruck 50% of the game whilst Gawn plays forward.

Then come the business end you go smaller and ruck Max 80% game time.

See I don’t agree, I don’t think we are good enough to mess with things, still too prone to dropping those games to risk it

Max would wreak havoc resting forward.

We should play two rucks next season...  as othres have said, Max will fall apart if we dont.  He can not continue to carry the load.

Would be a great pickup at a fair price.

My big question is can pruess be an effectively enough resting forward or do we lose out on forward pressure having him there. It’s basically him or weid

How good is May? like he plays for a [censored] team so you can't judge him. However he is talked of highly by media pundits. Lloyd dropped a line that if May came in (Assuming we kept Hogan) surely we'd be one of the favourites for next season. Now Lloyd is known for his outlandish statements but as i don't know much about May and his ability i can't tell if it's bat [censored] insane talk or just a super early call.

May is a significant upgrade on Oscar. I think he’s an all Australia quality key back in a decent side.

I find it a bit surprising that May is coming to us as he was slated as a shoe in for the Pies.  Hawks also chasing him hard.

But if he does come to us it will be nice to get one over Coll and Hawks.

MFC = Dee-stination Club!

I wonder if the pies have some salary cap pressure and restricts what they can offer May. Read that Langdon's contract neg had stalled due to $. I mean they have been paying overs for the recruits they've brought in from other clubs and their depth would come at a cost - Varcoe, Wells, Elliot etc.

Hawks already have keys backs, but they're also a seriously ageing list, the cliff is approaching, I'd stay away if choosing a destination.

The only answer is that we've been tracking him for a long time I reckon. As have some of us fans with the S May discussion thread on here for 2 years. He was a private school boy in Melbourne, so has his roots here. Probably with some of our players and staff.

Just passing on what I was told which allegedly came from May himself.

Who told you though?

  • A friend who knows May well?
  • Someone who you remotely know who remotely knows May?
  • Someone who is involved in football at AFL level?
  • A person who knows Judds Grandma?
  • Stuies facebook page?

Not asking you to name your source, just for a bit more clarity of where the info is coming from?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
