And your posts are gospel?

Show me any, any snippet of interest and I'll back down

Tell me where I'm wrong

Burden of proof isn't on me.  You're the one who said he isn't showing any interest on field, so have at it, big mouth.

As much as I understand why we wanted to trade Hogan and why we wanted to bring in May, the whole deal had an off feeling from the start.

May never showed great enthusiasm to come here in the first place, rather we were his last pathway out of GC17 when Collingwood and others went cold (I wonder why that was)

Reports of his initial lack of fitness and conditioning, coupled with his lack of discipline and lack of interest on field, make you wonder whether he is here to simply cash pay cheques or is actually committed to helping the club.

Hibberd was able to turn things around in 2017 from a bad start, hopefully May can do the same.

You've completely made up the bolded bits of your post.

Lack of interest on field?

This forum will make up just about anything to suit their argument.

He rocked up unfit and then, owning his mistake, worked his backside off to rectify it. That's fact, and really the only one we know.

Anything else is just hearsay.

But why did he rock up unfit?

no excuse from a Club Captain in my view

Phone calls and emails could have sorted everything.

The whole thing has been handled very badly on both sides.

He injured himself in his first game, because his body wasn’t ready.

We need defenders right now.

He explained that.  If you want further answers then you'll have to ask him yourself.

I'm still happy with the trade but....

My expectation is that when the club does a trade deal for a player they know when they do the deal what shape he is in and whether that meets our standards. His work on his diet and running capacity should have started the moment the deal was done.

But that did not happen so when he turns up to start of pre season and its obvious he is overweight and his running capacity is lower than our expectations he just gets told that his pre season will be extended into the regular season to give him time to get his skinfolds down and his running capacity up without overloading to lessen chance of injury. Instead he was set for Round 1, worked hard to get fit and was then struck down by successive hamstring and groin injuries.

He explained nothing, except that he is lazy.

It’s not hard to find out what Club Standards are, be the first thing i would be doing after i was drafted.

We've heard the explanation and many of us think it's a cop out. The question is, do you expect better from a mature age recruit?

Sir Why You Little is on the mark, it was poorly handled by everyone involved.

The overpaying for Lever,  I blame on Mahoney.  he's blotted his copy book IMO.

If, and it's big if we can get 20 games a year out of Lever for the rest of his career, then this trade might look ok.

Lever's a high quality player.

Drops my bundle?  The only bundle that's been dropped is yours.

You claim he 'cgaf' yet provide zero evidence for it, then get your knickers in a twist when someone challenges it.

I also think it's ironic that you're claiming that May 'cgaf' when your love child, who you've defended for years, portrayed himself often as someone who 'cgaf' often enough for the club.

We needed both players (Lever & May)  urgently... no problem there from me.

BUT the two first Rnd draft picks for Lever,  was never OK,  in my book.

The May issue of coming in out of condition and unfit,  has contributed to our downfall so far this year.  I think He owes us supporters an apology, for has slack attitude.

I am really disappointed with the opportunity we have given him and how he has so far re-payed us.

I don't think we overpaid for Lever at all.  Awesome footballer, can not wait til hes back.

And there it is - the shallow default position

May is a disastrous trade

Still no evidence.  Nothing to back your claims.

The implied sledge by Melbourne about standard at Gold Coast are complete BS, The Suns train as hard as anyone. Right or wrong May situation look and smell bad. Supporters will turn on you quickly when you don’t give 100%. The Lever and May trades are shaping up as disaster. If Melbourne has got them wrong it will set the club back ten years. The jury is out but so far this recruiting has been an unmitigated disaster. Stewie Dew is a smart operator maybe just maybe he sussed this guy out.

both are out injured. over statement ?

May is 3 weeks into a 5 year contract yet people already calling it a failure. its a short sighted view imo. sure it hasn't started well, but there's plenty of time for him to make amends yet.

I like May as a player but I am very disappointed about what has happened with him and the team thus far, he was a free agent at the end of this season and we gave up big currency for him to come in and perform this year.

Yes, but he was a free agent after this season, we got him in to make an impact now.

To call a trade bad after only one game in the seniors is more than a little bit crazy. Geezus, at least allow the bloke to get back on the park and find his feet in the team. If he plays poorly for a long time, then you might have a point, but at least wait until he proves one way or the other.

Lever was rubbish when he first came into our team, and despite what some others thought, i wasn't particularly excited by what he bought to the side before his injury. He may well come back and be playing like he was for The Cows before this season is up.

Our terrible start to the year has people angry and frustrated. We need to find some wins soon before this whole place goes feral.

Am I crazy or should we wait till May strings a few games together before we even consider talking about this?

Without recruiting May we would not have had a replacement Omac. Would you rather Omac for the long term?

Its not the 2 picks  'BBP'.   It's the player we didn't get, from the other pick... that the Crows did get.

When we give 2 top picks for one mature player,  we lose the opportunity to find the more skilled player types, that we need.

I wouldn't have cared if we gave One 1st Rnd pick,  and a 2nd Rnd'r,  and a 4th Rnd pick.

If we still had that 1st Rnd pick from the lever deal,  we might well now have Dylan Shiel or other top player...  as well as May.

I'm angry, crazy and frustrated, but i'm not silly enough to judge two potential champions for the MFC after limited opportunities and a bit of bad management/luck.

Not sure about OMac in the long term

Wish we had a tall, agile forward to aim at

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
