Looks like Linsday Thomas is going to be spending quite a few weeks on the sidelines.  The Dees doctors report won't do him any favours:

"Corey had a really significant head knock and he spent the night in hospital," Misson told melbournefc.com.au.  "He's already been ruled out this week and we'll just have to see how he progresses for next week, but it was a significant concussion."

Sounds like Maynard might struggle to get up for the week after this which doesn't bode well at all for Thomas

Good. Just saw the hit on twitter, deserves at least 3-4

So Thomas gets the same as Lewis?

So either the AFL MRP or the VFL MRP has to be replaced immediately .

Jackson has to be over Gil like a bad rash tomorrow.

Laughably ridiculous outcome.

Your mistake Dockett  is expecting the AFL to be consistent.

Thomas gets a well deserved 3 weeks http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-05-09/roo-handed-threegame-ban-by-vfl-tribunal

In practice it means 5 games as there are 2 VFL byes.

He might now become just a fringe player if he ever makes it back to the seniors...karma:)

When Werribee was walking off the ground, I yelled out "Enjoy the holiday Lindsay!" to which a bunch of the north boys laughed.

Then all of a sudden an official for Weribee, who was wearing a suit, started having a go at me, yelling and pointing "You are a clown mate" to which I said "But he tried to kill someone today mate!"

Was it George Calombaris?

The line flung in his direction has to be close to the best so far in 2017

I think it sends the wrong message. Just because there was a couple of byes following his ban shouldn't be factored into the 'time for the crime' so to speak.

Seems as thought the VFL tribunal are a lot more lenient than their AFL equivalents. Would be interesting to see how he fared at an AFL level hearing.

The VFL tribunal wanted for 5 weeks, North argued 3 weeks due to the byes and got there way

As 'McQueen' said, the VFL tribunal are a lot more lenient.

I couldn't imagine the AFL tribunal being swayed by North's argument.

If the AFL Tribunal can be swayed by Carlton doctor reports of post game injury diagnoses attributing them to in game events, then they will be swayed by anything when it suits them and adjust the penalty accordingly.

Lots of AFL Tribunal lenient decisions lately...

The VFL tribunal actually seemed to use common sense in some respects and took the VFL byes into account.  They said it's worthy of a 5 week penalty, so let's make it 5 weeks and not 7.

The Melbourne medical report looks horrid - Maynard suffering from amnesia as well as sever concussion.  TBH I think 5 weeks (with or without the byes) is very fortunate.

MRP is different than the tribunal 'Lucifer'...

...agree though the MRP are horrible and getting worse, it's still chook lotto.

Anybody else getting fed up with so many of our young players getting repeatedly concussed in VFL?

And for Maynard - how deliberate does a hit have to be to be deemed deliberate? (by a non-Melbourne player, of course)

Can see some semblance of reason in the bye argument.

If you think of him as a senior player he is ineligible to play for the AFL team until three VFL games have passed. This is the equivalent of five AFL games due to the VFL byes.

The counter argument which I think should prevail is that you are playing in the VFL comp.... it's worth five matches ... and if it is going to take seven weeks for those five matches to elapse that is your bad luck.

Sorry to give this thread a bump, and perhaps it should be a new thread altogether, however Lindsay Thomas is up to his old tricks in his first game back from suspension after the Maynard incident.  Check it out below - lucky not to put Palmer in hospital for a month...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
