You ruined the bit where people have to ask me what it was.  I'm downgrading my experience of seeing you on my stroll as just pretty good.

Glad you could read it that way...i watched the question about 5 times and still got no indication. I hope you're right.

Yeah I''m doubting myself now. When I watched it live I thought it was a full gone conclusion.

in context he isn't really sure about anything.

I think we are reading waaay too much into the interview, but because everyone else started I shall too. I dont think it was a forgone conclusion, clearly feels Nathan is stitching him up a little. But didnt seem like it was decided at all either way. At this stage of the season with Sydney right up there for the premiership, you'd think that he'd be a little more committed to a team looking to loose back to back grand finals.

Serious question about Zac and I'll preface this by saying that I really like him as a player.

If we went after him and got him, who does he replace in our best 22?  I feel like our best 22 is a very, very good side that would be hard for some to get into.  They seem to have been playing him off half back and through the wings, so it will be interesting to see where he fits within our side if we are able to get him.  I just hope we don't offer up too much in return.

Yep, that's fair.  I forget that sometimes.

I'm certainly not against getting him, just interested to see where people think he fits in our side.

I don't think Zac Jones gave anything away in that interview.

However, our own Nathan Jones seemed to have greater trouble at holding a straight face when probed about it on the Thursday footy show a couple weeks ago (13/07/17).

I can't recall exactly what he said, but you can tell Nathan wants him over. He mentioned how he's 7-8 years his younger and that they've never played together. He then referred to it as a fairy tale and a dream come true if it were to happen.

Clearly, the club is targeting him (from list management to captain). We can only hope they're successful.

I think he replaces Vince and plays off half back with stints in the midfield.

I reckon the Swans are developing a reputation of overlooking their own talent's development and compensation needs (Tom Mitchell) in preference to buying in big name talent (Buddy, Tippert), which might erode the loyalty of players like Zac, especially if the Swans are actually looking to acquire someone like Dusty...

I heard he told them to GAGF, that he would never play for them

Interviewed really well by every other club bar Collingwood. Told them he'd never set foot in that club ever due to the Treatment of his father. So in other words yes, told them to GAGF.

I really enjoy watching this kid play. Goes about it with a tonne of spirit and is pretty bloody handy.

Im sorry, but I just don't see the big reason to get this guy other than the romance of it with his brother.  4 yrs in the system and just a avg player who is handy with no real game breaking strength.

He's played less than 50 games and is 22 yo. Will be up and down as he develops, but has shown plenty this year. Tracking nicely compared with his bro at same age. Lots of up side

Nathan Jones was drafted to Melbourne with their first selection and the 12th overall in the 2005 national draft.[5] He made his debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 17, 2006 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and played the remaining eight games for the season, including the elimination final win against St Kilda and the semi-final loss to Fremantle. After his fourth match, he earned the round 20 Rising Star nomination for his game against the Kangaroos, where he collected 25 disposals.[5] After Melbourne were eliminated from the finals, he played for Melbourne's VFL-affiliate team, Sandringham, and played in their premiership side.

Jones played 21 games during 2007 and earned a second Rising Star nomination after the round 17 loss to Port Adelaide. He finished third in the award behind Joel Selwood and Scott Pendlebury and received 17 votes out of a possible 45.[5] He was the runner-up in Melbourne's best and fairest with 190 votes, finishing behind James McDonald who received 260 votes

Such a travesty that N Jones hasn't been recognised league-wide. Single handedly carried our team through the dark times and deserve all australian awards if we weren't so pathetic.

Agreed, I would give him a  miss.  We have a bunch of half backs, and they are way better than him (Hibbo, Hunt, Salem with Wagner and Joel Smith coming through)

We need to keep some draft picks anyway for our list profile. Jones would cost us too high a pick.

Jason Taylor needs to get a shot at the draft, its what he does best.  If we bring in Lever, we will lose another couple of first rounders too.

Jones didn't seem to have much of the smarts tonight, but then again Sydney on the whole looked a bit tired.

Pressure to perform and looked slower than normal......

I am yet to see Zak play a great game. He has a crack and plays good football, but so do many others.

If we get him i hope it is a second round pick (in the 30's) and not higher

there are better players out there

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
