He could end up being a coach with his success and credentials

Would make a good playing coach in his third year even if he does get dropped/managed.

I don't know why there is an issue with the 3 year deal. if he gets to the point where he is not earning regular senior selection i suspect he will retire and they will negotiate a reasonable pay out. With a bit of luck they might be able to keep him involved in the club as they have done so brilliantly with Crossy.

Well spoken. Non issue.

I feel like people are judging him on one bad performance. He is a very proud man, look out for him this weekend because I would expect him to set himself for a big one.

Further to this, I think a benchmark for Lewis is Daniel Cross, who played two great years for us, averaging 22 possessions and over 4 tackles. He cost us a similar amount to Lewis in draft picks, but much less salary cap space and years. While Lewis is a more damaging kick than Cross, he looks to be showing his age much more, with poor defensive efforts and trouble bending over once the ball hits the deck.

Post of the thread.

I thought Cross had something left, when Roosy showed him the door.  Cross kept his on-field value to the end.  He was a role-model in most aspects.  Slowish, but didn't really lose what he had.  More importantly, rarely lost his feet.  Lewis on the other hand, has pedal dementia.

Lewis won't limp to the line.  My view was that he limped into the 3 year deal.  I am not talking about the third year, when year one has been a big enough issue for me.

Worth every cent. He's not playing the midfield minutes anymore and is in a new role so can't expect him to rack up 30 plus and a sausage roll a game.

I like the fact he's floating back in the backline backing up players and I'm sure the kids have some confidence knowing he's behind the pill.

Was very good against the Saints and Bombers, games in years by we wouldn't have held on to.

He also nearly got us over the line against Hawks.

He said last week on AFL360 that he'd make up for bad game last week and he did

We're above Richmond now, we won't hear from him until that changes.

Good riddence.

Dead set clown. I read all that rubbish last week

A player like Lewis won't put two bad performances together. Knew he was poor last week, was good this week.

My advice to you lot is that you don't judge players in 10 goal wins.

Otherwise, Josh Caddy, Luke Bruest, Mitch Duncan and to a lesser extent Jack Gunston, are worthy of back-to-back All Australian status.

Primary school quote of the season.

FWIW, I back the tigs to miss the 8 a month or 2 ago.  I would show you the crownbet slip, but your teacher would frown on it, and I shouldn't talk to little boys.

Why not? Are you a Pedo fan?

This was so crystal clear he would have a cracker youd have to have been a little slow (like those that called for him to be dropped last week.....), blind or know nothing about football to think otherwise. was great to see the support for him this morning and even better to see some d's supporters eating humble pie post his awesome efforts today. He's huge for us as an expiericend leader to a team of young guns. Love the man and this club.

He's just a champion player. This isn't a portent of things to come, simply a reminder of what he has been for decade.

Again, he doesn't look like is going to fade away without a fight...

I judge Lewis as a 4 time Premiership Player and you as a dead set Clown TGR whomever you may be...

Speaking of primary school behaviour like never admitting when one is wrong? Remember Terry Wallace TGR? Your self professed demigod. Greatest coach ever? U r a sad individual. Clearly no joy again from another immense victory. Rubbing up too many young ones on the physio table methinks. Consumate darts player. Eventually you'll score a bull's-eye,maybe.Way off the mark here pal.

You made a stupid comment last week and Lewis has done a hell of a lot more than any of those blokes you mentioned, 4 flags to start, B&F in flag year

Finally. Yes,it can be easier to play well in a team that wins by ten goals. Having said that, Lewis was awesome in the first half when the game was on the line.  Instrumental in setting up the victory. Haters will be circling like vultures when he has a bad one. Guess what, not all his Hawthorn games were magnificent. If we make finals watch out for Jordan!

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
