Its a good move. I think Vince can lift. Had an ok year, but was carrying a bad toe injury earlier in the year, and he did well to play through that. He improved slightly in the latter half of the year, but he has plenty of improvement in him for the next year. Also, he is now becoming more familiar with his role down back. I think he will have a great 2018. Expecting Vince to bounce back.

Really happy Bernie is going round again.

Not to worried about his lack of pace.  His main value to us is when he shuts down a player like Sloane, Danger etc.  In that respect Bernie is a high impact player which I value more than one who runs around getting lots of possessions.

His presence and conduct on the field also protects our young players from too much rough stuff (soon they will be big and bold enough to protect themselves).

Those elements alone make him great value - I can forgive the odd blooper.

Goody just indicated on SEN that Bernie is prepared to play footy at Casey next year if his form warrants it. That was part of the conversation that they had before he re-signed. BV just wants to keep playing and he is happy to mentor blokes playing at Cranbourne if that's what the club asks of him.

Bernie would have meant what he said to Goody and I'm happy with his re signing, but I'd like to think he'll be doing everything possible still to make the 22 and in turn keep pressure on others to work as hard or harder to take that spot.

Great stuff. Henry (my four year old) and I love Bernie.

He's a favourite at our place too. My daughter is devastated that he's about to get married.

That girl had better hurry up and marry him, before I do!  Got a serious man crush on Bernie.  Absolutely top bloke.

To think that he came to us when we were on our knees, when had he stayed at the Crows, he could be just about to play off in a GF.  He deserves to be at the MFC when we finally have some decent success again.

It's basically been said, but he's too slow nowadays; his kicking is a liability, even forward of centre; however, he does give us experience out there and on the training track. I'll trust the FD on this one.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
