If the talk is that the difference in salaries between what Vic clubs would offer and what the crows have on the table is around $300k, then it stands to reason that the offers in front of Lever are around $800k - $900k which would make him one of our highest paid players on our list.

We might have to work with some of the currency that we have on our list, which possibly at the moment would be players like ANB, Kent, JKH, Stretch, Frost, Spencer and possibly Trengove. I have no idea what Adelaide needs, apart from a mid that can help chop out and help Sloane some more. If they lose McGovern and Lever, they would want a tall also...

Given that it is reported to be a deep and even draft, a player that can slot into their side immediately, a pick upgrade or two and a 1st rounder of some form should be enough...

No, we do not have to use this year's 1st round pick. Isn't it 2 over a 4 year period? We used 2 on Oliver and Weid. 

I can see ANB or Kent being in the mix for a trade, possibly Stretch. Might be 3-way.

This draft is reportedly good at the top end but shallow. However we all know Taylor's ability to find gold late in the order. Next year's is supposed to be high quality and deep. I hope we keep our 2018 1st and 2nd round picks, or trade for one as Saints did with Hawks this year.

Don't be so touchy, LH.  I wasn't having a go in the slightest, just an observation I made.  Wasn't trying to be personal at all, hence why I put the winking face at the end.  I thought you would see it that way but I'm sorry that you didn't.

If he were a Melbourne player would you think otherwise? What were you thinking Viney or Hogan would become after their first years? What about Selwood after his first year? There's generally a reason football media people, team-mates, past players etc predict these things early on. 

Lever is the full package. Personality traits, football ability, physical attributes. He possesses all the building blocks to become the player he is predicted to become. Just like those others I've mentioned. And the reason you pay overs sometimes is to land someone of that quality.

Keep in mind he was pick 14 in his draft year. A year in which he didn't play a single game because of a knee reco. He was a talked as a potential number 1 pick before he did his knee.

In an injury interrupted second year of football, he will potentially make the 40 man AA squad as a key defender. I'd say that's a fairly good indication that with a full pre-season and injury free season he will be an AA defender soon enough.

Why don't you just marry him you love him so much.

I wouldn't be swapping Hogan for him, maybe 1st rnd & a player, moot point anyway, I have a feeling he will stay.

 

He would be a great addition to our young side; however i wouldn't be giving overs for him.

Can Lever play forward? Did he play there as a junior?

I thought you weren't allowed to trade out of the first round two years in a row? As we traded our 2016 first rounder in 2015, correct me if i'm wrong

AFL has confirmed that every club can trade is 1st round pick this year. 

The rule is 2 first rounders in 4 years, including 2 in the last 4 years.

However, clubs can apply to the AFL for exemptions based upon "acting responsibly". Not sure how this places the Cats next year with their trades for Danger and Touey.

We used two first rounders (Oliver and Weideman) in the 2015 draft. We don't need to use any first rounders in a draft until 2019.

Given his versatility, probably is.

If the Weid came on a bit earlier than expected and we got Lever, TMac would certainly carry trade value, much more than his bro or Frost. It would be interesting to see what eventuated if we got Lever early in the trade period and a club offered a future 2018 first rounder for TMac

Reading back through the trail of posts that come before the one you quoted, i thought he was referring to Trac being wanted by everyone.

Until this year he might have been but given his outstanding form in the fwd line there isn't any chance whatsoever that the club would seek to trade him.

Was purely putting out there as a hypothetical, I think Tom is a better player (due to age and experience now) than perhaps Lever is currently, but Lever has the upside in the long run. I guess it depends on whether our window is still 1-2 years away and Adelaide is firmly there now.... 

However if we managed for instance to effect a trade... lets say TMac for Lever, with some loose change exchanging hands. Allowing us to keep a first round pick to target someone else... knowing that Adelaide is potentially more open to the idea with Lever and possibly McGovern leaving... the currency for a swingman like TMac is more desirable, and we might get better value in the trade.

I was being mischievous and I am tired of seeing posts where we are trying to 'lure' a quality player away from other clubs for what amounts to peanuts. We will have to give up something good to get Lever. Look at the Hibberd trade, how many people screamed about giving up what was it a second round pick?  We clearly won out on that trade!

Frost tmac are non tradeables in my opinion - Anb Trenners Jkh and Spencer ( for his own benefit) are . Anb and a pick should suit them . ( i wish, although I hope anb stays  ) Who knows eh but talk of Lever going to collingwood is a farce why would he want to go to a bottom team . 

I never quite understood why TMac was often thrown around on here as possible trade bait - sure, he makes the odd brain fade in defence but he was still our most crucial defender.   I have even less understanding now given that he's proven to be a more than capable forward and even a pinch hitter in the ruck.  He's untouchable...no way we trade TMac.

Tomald going forward is a revelation. Untouchable now. He competes better than most forwards his size and will only get better. 

What about Gibbs? Could we get some 3 way action going?

Hypothetical,if we get Lever what happens to O.Mac ? Some suggest that we trade him,surely  T.Mac would probably want to leave. O.Mac might end up playing forward or a role similiar to his bro who knows. Lever would be good but playing overs may upset the "apple cart". To my knowledge one of the Scott brother was  better than the other yet Brissy could have traded one of them.
