toughest midfield in the AFL according to Kingy. I can't believe he's being positive about us ha ha ha.

Any other info, for those of us who don't read/subscribe to the HS.

As coincidence would have it just before you started this thread I had posted this to the Gus Brayshaw thread: "Our midfield is scary good:  Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Tyson, Salem, (potentially Petracca).  Collectively, they remind me of the Lions midfield of the early 2000's: Black, Voss, Akermanis, Power".

You could almost match them up

  • Voss:  Oliver/Viney - tough as
  • Black:  Brayshaw/Salem - silky
  • Akermanis: Petracca - strong, knows where the goals are.
  • Power:  Tyson - quietly gets the job done.

Notice there are more Dees players than Lions...as I said our midfield is scary good!

We could easily have a few Brownlow medalists in our lot - if they don't take votes from each other that is.

Just as long as they deliver us a flag or two or three!

No pressure of course

I think its the first steve

I beleve Kingy and the champion data have the dees midfield ranked last in their comparisons.

But mind u it was based on prior years not speculating about 2017

And Lewis, Vince and Jones if they can break into the senior squad...

Bloody. Hell.

I can't recall us ever attracting such a comment in the media. This has to be a first.

Cameron Mooney is also not afraid to compliment the MFC, but 'this is amazing.'

King is a [censored]. His opinion is worth less than the 73 HQ I bought for $50 back when. I'd rather him not on the bandwagon

DH not Cu... in case anyone was wondering

Wow... Black, Voss, and Aker are superstars, ALL Brownlow medalists. There are players that went through that Brisbane midfield who you didn't even mention that are guns. I know what you were trying to say, but I hope this talk remains within demonland walls, my mates would tear shreds off me if I talked anything of the sorts with this Lions midfield comparison.. Taqlk about ngetting ahead of yourself. I talk about scraping into the 8 this year and I get told not to get ahead of myself, which is fair.. "Collectively, they remind me of the Lions midfield of the early 2000's: Black, Voss, Akermanis, Power". Hilarious!!!!!

What about Nigel Lappin? Lappin was a gun.. Even Shaun Hart...

Nice headline, lacks the word "potentially"

Swans have the toughest midfield currently.

I've always liked that Kingy bloke.

Sniper on the field- presents well on tv - can't help but think being a football pundit would be the easiest thing in the world - vague statements, reactionary, revisionist... still nice to have positive articles being pumped out at the moment...

Why does all this optimism make me worried? Remember...what year.....? we won the first 8 games.......2000?.......then we got the double page spread in the sun with statements like this team is as good as the one from 1964 etc..........lid on please.

If we have are the toughest midfield we haven't seen it yet. Same shyte we were hearing in 2010 from the media. I want to see results. The recent demolition job Cripps and Gibbs did to us reminds us of how pathetic we can be.

You forgot one of the best, Nigel Lappin. Only one of the above to earn All Australian in their four grand Final years....one of the 'Fab Four'

The Dees have done nothing.  These guys were out and out champs.

This talk is frankly insane. But then it is Kingy

$50 for an HQ! Not bad! I'll give you $60 for it.

I don't think Kingy said these things, it's Lucifers Hero's doing.. Frankly insane is correct.

I remember him telling us how Geelong had no chance of winning the 2011 premiership. None at all. Talked about it for weeks. Pointed out how they were aging, had lost talent, etc etc... Then when they won I saw him on one of the footy shows telling the world that he picked it all along.

The guy is a [censored] of the highest order.

Thank you .

The 'No pressure of course '  line indicated the parts about brownlow medals and flags were tongue in cheek...  Nonetheless, I do think the midfield similarities are there.

Will ours deliver, who knows.  Agree, we have done nothing yet.

As i noted in another thread, for me the lid is still on.  Slightly ajar, yes but would like to wait and see if we have stopped 'drinking our own bathwater'.  Hopefully, Lewis will keep their feet on the ground after the hype around the JLT wins.

ps I haven't seen the article so wasn't commenting on what DK wrote.

I havent read anything that he said ad he may well be completely mad. But i have to wonder how many on here dissagree with King just because of who he is. I'd love to get a line up of 10 articles all anonymously written and see how many pick King's as the "better".

Have to agree. Might be different in 12 months time though. We need to achieve something first IMO.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
