Does anyone else think Oliver is really good value at $34 for most brownlow votes of any Melbourne player?

Max Gawn and Viney obvious dangers but $34 seems pretty good to me?

As you know Wrecker, I am not a betting man - but if I was that'd be as good a punt as I'd ever get.

The kid is gun, plain and simple.

Good game and nice to see him getting a lot more of the ball through to the end. Still has a lot of work to do defensively, a prime example was priddis goaling in the second quarter. Oliver was ball watching after the centre bounce while priddis streamed forward and had 30m space. Tried to catch up but was too far behind.

West Coast were on to him early, if not a tag then they were watching him very closely at the clearances.  Played a lone hand in the midfield until Jones moved in there in the last.  Best game he's played.

Super talent.

His hands are great but it's also nice to see him becoming more damaging with his kicking.

Such a strong core for a young fella as well. The tackles he stood up in broke out of last night were excellent.

At $34 that is certainly worth a bet.. However on Crownbet his odds are $51 !! Couldn't resist

not anymore. I tried for the $51 and they wouldn't take my bet and then moved him in to $15.

WOW .. Your not joking ! What the actual f**k ... they must've taken a huge bet on him at $51.. i only outlaid $20

$51 was available for me and I didn't have a massive go. I tried to put a bet on and the screen sat there thinking for ages and they eventually let me have $20 on it and wouldn't allow the rest of the bet. Then I noticed the odds had been adjusted.

strange that only part of your bet went through.. well better than nothing ! how it comes into 15 from 51 is crazy.. unless it was a typo haha

How about Hunt being Hunt?

Clarry's clearly been the best of our mids this preseason , with Salem and Brayshaw looking like they'll go up a level this year.

Viney Looked a little subdued , maybe saving it for the real stuff.

No disrespect to others but Clarry's impact with ball in hand already makes him our best midfielder. Its now all about game and quarter consistency and when a tag shifts to him (which it will very quickly) how he goes. The addition of his outside work we are starting to see shows how quickly he is developing. Lock to be in the pivot round 1 first bounce against saints I reckon.

the beauty is that if they start playing a harder tag on him. in theory it should free viney up in particular around the contest.

oliver, viney and salem will be the #1 rotation of mids for us you'd think.

Not so much tagging but I've noticed even last year that oppo coaches were aware of Olivers impact around the clearances and have put a lot of work into him.

They try to block his path to the ball but he's still getting plenty of it and he will learn to get plenty more.

Imagine Viney not getting a tag though, because he can't break one, whereas Clarry will be able to. It improves our midfield and gives players like Viney and Tyson a few extra moments to get rid of it.

An article out of yesterday's West Aussie.

Unsure of it was also published over east.

Oliver in for a bumper season

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
