Corey Maynard

So I have gone through and read all training reports over the summer and by the sounds of it we have found a player? I really hope we get to see him during the JLT games.

I've honestly heard very little of him. I just want to trial guys like him in JTL. NOT overly fussed on winning

fully agree mate. Hoping to see Keilty,Tim & Joel Smith, DJ, Hannan, JKH & Maynard all play during JTL.

I was one of the first to "Talk the Talk" regarding Oliver Clayton who now "Walks the Walk"..

Now for my next trick....Corey Maynard.

He is an absolute brute of a specimen and im predicting a better clone of Luke Parker/Nat Fyfe (and i hate comparing players as they are their own person) . Underage gun who once kicked 15 goals in a junior game u15's before concentratingon a promising basketball career.

Watch this space !!

The development soil is finally fertile. Rookies will have a much better chance of making a go of it.

Another tick for the recruiters at this early stage.

just went on MFC website to check out his bio.  his picture was there but the summary was on Filipovic. then clicked on Filipovic to see if Maynards summary would be there and there was nothing there at all

nice work all round

Theres also a problem where they seem to have removed "fi" out of random words.
From Trenners new Bio:
"  The season improved from there and he started to put pressure on the selectors to pick him.  They nally did, with Trengove running out against Hawthorn in round 11 for his rst game since round two, 2014. Trengove, who has twice had surgery to x a fracture in his foot, played two more games before returning to the VFL.  "

Edit: I also noticed that Tyson and Viney were both apparently "mid elders" which i thought was an odd description untill i realised what had happened

I AM! Personally, I want us to pick our best available team next Saturday and give the Doggies an absolute hiding! After that Goody can experiment to his heart's content!

PS: I am sure that our membership will soar if both our teams beat the Doggies!

I'm glad everyone is on board because i think Maynard could be the saviour.

In all seriousness we are building a side with a diversity of strenths. Maynard has size and clean hands.

I must say I agree with you - can't remember him being mentioned at all.

Would be great though if he turns out to be a hidden gem

"Has great evasive skills"

From what I saw in the intraclub he's a fair way off it. At this stage he's an athlete with a good physique who can look quite good in training drills that highlight his movement and vision in close.

If he can have a season in the VFL like Joel Smith did that will be a start. Smith's the one from our basketballers who I want to see in the preseason comp.

I hope he starts getting them dirty.

This.

Good size and has a good look about him (something reminds me of Pendlebury but it isnt football skill), but hes at least a year off I think. Needs consistent games at Casey and should be aiming to be one of their best in a push for the flag they missed last year.

Odd kicking style I thought.

I picked him as a champion before he was born.

Ha! Did you put a wager on him to become a footballer at AFL level? If you did...

I think you're getting confused with Lipovich, our rst pick in last year's Rookie Draft.

The little I saw of him when I attended the first couple of training sessions this year, he reminds me physically of Petracca. Can't wait to see what he can do on the field.

I don't bet.

I understand the excitement of watching new recruits at this time of the year it infects us all to some extent especially after the crap Dees supporters have been through over the last decade.

However it is that dancing with your sister time of the year.

Lets see how Maynard and others look when the real stuff starts.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
