That's disappointing.

Will probably be fringe players all season tbh.

Also, Petracca to kick 3+ goals today.

Looking forward to todays game. Hopeful for no injuries and generally a good showing from the players. Can forgive the skill errors at this stage, just want to see the game plan in action and good intent aroubd the contest.

Can forgive skills from who? We are fielding a reasonably strong side.

It's the first game of the year, BA. There is bound to be some rustiness to shake off over the next few weeks.

Disappointed not to see Trenners given a go to prove himself. Still excited for any footy though so Go Dees!

Pumped to see how Oliver goes especially.

Same - hoping his fitness has really improved. Will be a jet if that's the case.

interesting that we're probably going in a bit smaller against the dogs, with no real 'third tall' forward or defender.

trengove out of the side i am disappointed by but i can sort of understand as otherwise we're over-run with inside mids to a certain extent, and i'd rather get the game time into brayshaw and oliver. no doubt trenners will get a go at some point.

i was discussing it with a couple of other tragics over the last day or so, i'm curious to see who they roll through the midfield from the get go - whether cos it's a glorified practice game they practice likely line-ups (e.g. all of jones, viney and lewis rolling together through the midfield) or whether they pick and change just to get the run under the belt.

likely bench starters? do they really start 7 on the bench? seems like a very random number

B: Smith - T. McDonald - Wagner
HB: Hunt - O. McDonald - Vince
C: Salem - Jones - Stretch
HF: Petracca - Hogan - Kennedy-Harris
F: vandenBerg - Weideman - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Lewis - Viney
I/C: Brayshaw - Oliver - Melksham - Neal-Bullen - Bugg - Spencer - Harmes

What time is the game expected to finish (as my gf is pressuring me to take her to a film at 7.00 and I have to allow time to walk home from the pub)?

Shame about Trenners and Johnstone. Would rather watch them than ANB for this first match.

Not sure, probably best to just break up with her.

" 'tis better to have loved and lost CBDees, you also have free reign to watch as much footy as you want....... and go to strip clubs... just a thought.

Also, seeing as Huddo is commentating the GWS vs WCE game right now it means we are likely to get Der-Wayne for our game next. I feel like it's too early in the year to be listening to him talk utter drivel during a game.

It's always too early in the year for that.

What station is that? I live in NSW so I can't remember who is who on Melbourne radio. I'll listen though, even if it means I cringe for 90% of the commentary. I just want my footy.

Great.

If we are winning I look forward to hearing ad nauseum the list of Dogs players missing.

Very excited to see Joel Smith out on the park. Looked very encouraging in the VFL last year.

Disappointing that Dion and Trenners aren't getting a game today. Maybe next week.

Shame, was looking forward to seeing both Trenners and Johnstone!

The Matt Burgan curse, published an article/did an interview in the lead up to our first pre season game last year with Neal-Bullen, then he didn't get selected. This year it's Trengove.

Goodwin flagged earlier in the week who our new players were going to be (Lewis, Melksham and Smith) so no surprise to see Johnstone out.

Arrrggghhh, I'm sure my pre-game nerves are getting worse as I get older.  How am I going to be for games that actually matter?

Pass the bucket.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
