Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well, Coopers does make some sense to me. It's evident they're making a big push into Melbourne, nabbing the Australian Open from Heineken, and they're prominent in the SANFL, with naming rights for The Parade in Norwood. Seems a decent fit. Can we sign a non-CUB deal?

We will have something done this year, we will just miss out on full value for year one.

How did it come to this?

I'm staggered that we've missed out  on a chunk of sponsorship revenue despite having one of the supposedly best AFL club CEO's of all time.

Even when we bush league standard in 2013 we had sponsors on the front and back of our jumpers.

Is it possible with the Coopers controversy recently that we've held off announcing them as a sponsor until the heat dies down?

That was my original (half-joking) speculation a page back. But it could also be a matter of ironing out the contract legalities with the AFL for a non-CUB deal - or, more simply, CUB seems to be going through a marketing restructure at the moment and it might just be them just feeling their way through. All guesses.

Keep in mind we may have been only getting bush league dollars then. I have no idea why we don't yet have a BOJ sponsor, but refusing to sell the space at a discounted (bush league) price might be a reason.

Incorrect. One of the companies we are progressing talks with has already been mentioned in this thread. We will have something done this year, we will just miss out on full value for year one.

Selling at a bottom of the barrel price by devaluing the product every which way but loose.

PJ and Co. could have done the nice "PR" thing and put Reach on their for 6 weeks but that would have just brought the price down.

Not sure that that is the case. Good deeds tend to get rewarded.

You could argue that having Reach on the back would have created exposure and awareness re the sponsorship opportunities that the jumper provides. PJ at the AGM impied (can't remember exact words) that we were going to sign someone up soon.

The lack of communication from the club on this matter makes this doubley (pretty sure this isn't a real word) annoying!

Apart from that, i meant the BOJ sponsor. They knew they were doing this for Anzac day so are waiting until after it to announce new sponsor. Or PJ is a tardburger who has no idea what he is doing and should really start to read what we say on Demonland and act accordingly.

I have no inkling as to what is going on

but i find it both strange and quite frankly sad that we the Oldest Sporting Club on earth cannot get a Sponsor on our jumper with the amount of exposure that Sponsor would get.

Makes no sense.

"Lest we forget" takes on a new seperate meaning

Would you also find it sad if we signed up some unknown dog food company just to have a sponsor for the sake of it?

No not at all. I find it sad that as a member of the number 1 sport in the country we cannot sell sponsorship. Companies should be bidding for space considering the exposure AFL gets year round now

I find it sad that the last decade has scared sponsors off.  I do not blame them.

It will change though and us not having a BOJ for a year will not bury us.

Not disagreeing mate. It just makes it harder to climb back up.

The AFL isn't going to give us too much of a draw if we cannot attract Sponsors.

That said i would prefer nothing to an "Energy Watch" alternative.

Yeah that's what I was saying with the dog food comment. I would rather nothing that some dinky company getting cheap advertising at the expense of the oldest spoting club in the world.

We are already at the bottom, up is the only way to go from here.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
