we'll almost definitely start the season with nothing on the back. i personally don't mind it, suits the class of the jumper

But surely having AHG for free is better than having nothing on the back of the jumper for a couple of games.

We look ridiculous without a back of jumper sponsor.

I know PJ will get a good deal done, but am surprised he hasn't got one finalised before the season proper. Very surprised.

And you look ridiculous when you make silly comments like this.  It makes no difference other than $$$$$.  It doesn't look bad at all.

I have no doubt one will be signed up within the next month.  As long as we get full dollars then it matters little.

I reckon PJ has engaged a couple of prospective BOJ sponsors and is working through the process of allowing the higher offer to emerge.

Given most see the Dees are on the cusp of a period in the top half of the ladder there will be suitors...

So let's let the bidding play out...

Just put wacky bumper stickers on the back.

Opposition players that can read might get distracted.

Or a reflective panel for the hair-conscious. It'll be like sacrificing Bugg to taft Riewoldt out of the game.

Bought a jumper last week specifically because it DOESN'T have a sponsor on the back.

Wish i could get one without all the crap on the front too.

Get one at target

Whether people think it looks good or not, it is a revenue stream 16 other clubs have that we don't. Each week that passes loses value as the sponsor sees less and less 'airtime' so this can't be seen as anything but a disappointment to be March with no sponsor.

PJ has enough runs on the board that I'll allow this and back his judgement- however, if Cam Schwab had us in this position people would be wanting blood not saying how classy the jumper looks....

I'm hoping we have a back of jumper sponsor announced this coming week. Maybe on Wednesday night on the Footy Show? At the very latest this coming Friday.

It may sound harsh but Peter Jackson and the MFC administration have had months during the off season to organize this and to leave basically a "blank space" on the back of the jumper for the start of Round 1 will be a bit embarrassing and unprofessional. This is 2017 not the 1980s.

Even a temporary sponsor or a charity like Reach or the Royal Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army would be suitable until we lock in a major sponsor for the back of the jumper.

A blank space for Round 1 is absolutely not good enough. And I'm sure the AFL would say the same thing.

When the sponsorship does come I have no doubt it'll be for a couple of seasons at least. It that light what does it really matter.

It doesn't look ridiculous aesthetically (some might say it even looks better without a logo there).

But there's no doubt it looks bad without one there. The perception/signal it sends is certainly not one of positivity.

My hope is we have something to announce this week.

How much would it cost to be the BOJ sponsor? My mate is always looking to get his business name out there.

It's a lot of advertising time so not cheap.

I worked for the GTV9 Advertising Department back in 1986 and even then it was big dollars

it is a huge amount of money to not have just before a new season.

Question. Is this PJ's domain or is it the CCO's? De Crespigny... not looking to string anyone up, I'm just wondering.

Posted

as a general rule, sponsorship at any level of the club is handled by the corporate affairs / sponsorship manager.

the likely parties involved in satisfying client requirements would be de crespigny as chief commercial officer, tom parker as strategic relationships manager, julian heinz as manager of partnerships, and orry lack as senior account and new partnerships manager.

satisfying a sponsor at club level is notoriously hard work and i'm sure they're all doing their level best to get a satisfactory outcome for all parties.

Well that's the thing I watch football not who sponsors who,  don't careless, when I need to buy something I don't think wait is my team sponsored by them,  and 99% think the same.

Considering we're reliant on their funding I'm pretty sure the club would care what they think

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
