So he might be 17 now.  I assume he will be in the 2020 draft.

Does anyone know where he is playing this season, and perhaps even next season in his draft year?

This article indicates great things for the MFC, as we all await the ascension of the sons of some of our best ever players. We are currently aware of some of these (eg: Jay and Jack Viney, Steve and Billy Stretch, etc - and there are many that could be mentioned) but the present prognosis and into the short-term future is even more exciting. Names that come to mind do include Farmer, Schwartz, White, etc). Golly, if only!

Jack's father was Jay - what would Todd say about that I wonder?

Thanks for that. Oversight as I knew a 'Jay' many years ago. OOOPS!

But you haven't seen him play? So how would you know he has some form of "electricity" or whatever that even means..

For all we know he could be another dud like Dion Johnstone? If so then i dont want him on the list.

Maybe @Pennant St Dee has some info on Koby perhaps?

Sorry DD haven't got much info on Kobe and with increased parent sports duties dont get to see as many junior games as I used to or would like to. I speak with some from junior development in the Peel region. They say he shows flashes of great talent but not consistently,  I think Kobe is only 16 going on 17. He's not talked about among the up and comers in that age bracket and not part of Peel Thunder Colts squad.

I've seen big developments in kids in the 17 to 18 age brackets so you never know but I think at this stage it's a long shot.

We've got no hope, forget about it.

If he is tied to Freo for next Gen then yes it makes it harder.

Kobe is based in WA. So i can't see him leaving there unless his father can convince him otherwise.

Just means he's doing all the right things and being exposed to as much higher level coaching/experience he can at his age. He's also been over with us as well. From what I understand the father-son and next gen have the same rules, so neither takes priority and it'll be up to him and his family to decide.

so for the experts which trumps what... the father/son or the academy?

Interesting question.

I believe he is qualifies for father and son at both the Dockers and the Dees.

Everything I've heard was that Jeff was very keen on Kobe being at the Dees eventually, so I'm not giving up hope just yet!

I'm the same, Wiz said on I think it was DeeBrief that his choice was Melbourne for Kobe in terms of Father son!

I believe he can nominate for any of those, so the choice is his. Freo have a to match any bids, though.

He can pick either. Neither trumps the other.

Nick Blakey had 3 options last year and could take any of them. He was a father son at both North and Brisbane through his father's career at North and Fitzroy. He could also go to the Swans as a Swans Academy graduate which was what he elected in the end because he grew up there and it's where his family is.  So based on that it would be a big call for Kobey to leave his family and friends and go to Melbourne because his father played the first half of his career here. Go home factor would be high unless the Wiz moves the family to Melbourne. I know he's working there on a contract at the moment but that will end in the next year or so.

Wiz Told me that if Kobe was good enough to play AFL, he would be at Melbourne.

Love him at the Dees but wish him well wherever he goes.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
