I know it is just stats but the AFL site is saying Petracca is 'statistically' the best of the rising star nominations.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-06/the-stats-files-rating-2016s-rising-star-contenders

I doubt he will win though as it seems they will go either Mills or Daniel.

Apologies if there is already a thread for this- I couldn't find one.

He did this coming off  a knee reco and a year out, and has played just 17 games.  How good will he be?

Hopefully Mills wins.

He'll definitely be the better of he and Daniel. Daniel's a solid player but not really a 'star' by my definition, and stands out like a sore thumb against winners of the past.

It just highlights the farce of northern Academys; Sydney able to finish top 4 yet take the best players in the draft every year for a packet of chips. Heeney could easily have won last year if he weren't injured.

Yet people were concerned about picking up players from Essendrug, even though they missed the same amount of time, but didn't have any significant injuries?!

In addition, I don't think he put a whole game together this year.  He showed glimpses, but you can see that there is a player in there who is going to completely tear games apart in the coming years.  He won't win it, but there's a potential superstar there.

If I had to compare him to a player I think he is going to be most like in the future, I think it's Dangerfield.

Similar size and shape, I can see Petracca bursting out of the middle and packs very much like him.

Definitely see that in the size, but doesn't have the explosive pace of Dangerfield.

He's had a great first season and at times has definitely slipped under the radar.

I haven't seen explosive pace like Dangerfield's, power yes...but several times Petracca was caught short for pace and in fact I was questioning through the season whether he was playing too heavy and would be asked to come back lighter for next pre-season.  Don't misinterpret my comments, I'm a huge wrap for him but he hasn't demonstrated elite pace, which clearly is an attribute of Dangerfield's.

Petracca's stats are on par if not better than what Dangerfield's were in his fourth year. Hopefully he can work on his explosiveness. He is going to be a beast.

TRUCK TALKS TOUGH

Melbourne's emerging superstar Christian Petracca on the Dees' impressive young list.

"We want to build a dynasty, we want to build a premiership side. This year we've had some really good wins and some poor games, we feel like we're on the right track to be a very successful team."

Apparently didn't slip under Hawthorn's radar. So it is out there for all those scum bag recruit staff to try their dirty tactics to get him.

No Tracca or Oliver in the top 5.

Not one coach in the AFL would prefer Parish ahead of either if given the choice.

Petracca also said he was "Melbourne for life" in his SEN interview, after Maher joked about Carlton wanting him.

Really setting an example of a dedicated young man who isn't getting ahead of himself, and he's bringing the rest of the team with him.

Can you explain what this meant? I seem to have missed something... ?

Said it before but I reckon he's a Mark Ricciuto clone. So similar in so many ways.

It's unusual for me to notice a poster who doesn't contribute often, but I respect your views and nearly always find myself in agreement.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
