Matt Jones could be in the gun.

Pedersen has been put in for early surgery which suggests he's safe.

And i suspect White will get a 3rd rookie year going by Plapp's weekly write ups of his performances.

IMO...Five to go off main list and two rookies

Terlich

Grimes (persecution)

Dawes /Pedersen

M.Jones / M.White

Newton

Michie(r)

Max King (r)

Wagner to be upgraded. Add Melksham. Grab Hibberd for pick 27 swap

I'm guessing we have to use 3 picks in the draft ? 3rd & 4th round & one for Wagner upgrade.

IN: Hibberd, 3rd rounder 4th rounder, Wagner upgrade

OUT: Terlich (100%) Grimes (100%) Dawes, Newton/M.Jones. I want Mitch White gone too

That's 4-5 changes, guess there could be more. We don't have to free a spot for Melksham do we ? There is already a spot for him.

No chance Matt Jones goes

DELIST Dawes, Matt Jones, Terlich, Newton, Michie, Max King

FREE AGENT WALK Grimes

TRADE OUT Garland

PROMOTE Wagner

TRADE IN Hibberd plus two others. Nathan Vardy & Tom Lamb my ideal targets.

NATIONAL DRAFT Two picks

ROOKIE DRAFT Three Picks

You're probably right, but that's up to Goodwin now.  I always felt Roos had a soft spot for him, but that may not be the case with Goody.

He could be in the 'trade gun.'

Has some worth as a bottom 6/fringe player.

Very good depth player and gives us speed which we don't have a lot of

The interesting one will be which one of Dawes/Pedo goes

Might be able to help here, it won't be Pedo.

Why do you say that ? I will be filthy if they keep Dawes over Pedo!

Most of the other posts have the bulk of the names covered, however I wouldn't be surprised to see Lamumba retire as well

I said Pedo will be staying. The quote referred to which one would go. I said it won't be Pedo going.

Delist: Terlich, Newton, White, King

FA: Grimes

50/50 on Dawes and I'd keep Michie for another year personally (shouldn't surprise anyone).

Ahh misread, my mistake

My barometer is set on Dawes. It will be sackcloth and ashes if we need to keep him.

Hope you are wrong, 29 yo list clogger who played 10 games. One of the first i would delist

I'm split on him, but does the age of a list clogger matter? I mean if you're a list clogger by definition you probably won't get better, almost certainly you'll be 23+, if you're 24 or 29 who cares? In fact I'd probably rather the 29 year old for some life experience and leadership.

Out: Terlich, Grimes, Dawes, Newton, Michie (r), Max King (r)
Possible: Matt Jones, Mitch White (r)

Trade out: 1 of Garland or Dunn (take your pick)

Rookie promotion: Wagner

Trade in: Hibberd

Main list spots: 4  - 3rd round pick, 4th round pick, delisted free agent, PSD/extra rookie

Rookie list spots: 3

Train on:
Matt Jones - depending on draft/free agents we might need an experienced outside runner. Could be rookied or go on the main list depending on list space
Mitch White - needs to do a lot of speed work, could stay on but cutting him might give us flexibility
Max King - if he got fit he's got a lot of talent, worth keeping him training if he came back in shape in November could be re rookied

Couldn't find the previous thread...

Who will the Dee's delist in the coming weeks?

Usually there are 6-7 that make way. I think all below are on shaky ground.

Michie, White, Dawes, Terlich, Newton, Grimes, Max King, Pederson

Not too sure who else is shaky, who will be traded and who will be on Rookie list.

From > Dunn, Terlich, King, Dawes, Newton, JK-H, Grimes,

I am sure you cannot "rookiie" someone for more than 3yrs which means Max King will get the chop. Spencer could end up being traded surely he wants to play seniors and not be anyones sidekick. Bisbance,GC may be interested. If we cannot get Hibberd for the right currency then we should go for Marchbank,GWS are much easier to deal with than EFC. Dunn,Garland and Dawes all of whom are getting little senior game time may want  more. At this stage we cannot get a 1st round pick so hopefully there are some diamonds in the rough in our latter draft round picks. Salem will become a midfielder which means ANB could be traded. Garlett may need to do some midfield work due to lack of opportunities to score in the forward line.

Spencer has been re-signed until 2017 and I suspect that unless we bring in an experienced and proven ruckman of the Mumford ilk, Spencer will continue to sign one-year extensions. He's not going anywhere. It would be suicide to dump ruck stocks when your back-up ruckman on game day is Jack Watts.

Could easily have played 18.  Got injured early when his form was very good and missed a block of 4-5 games.  When he came back he played well in the VFL but we had almost a full list to choose from.

Delist certainties: Michie, Terlich, Newton, King

Delist probabilities: M.Jones,

Trade: ANB (keep if no trade), JKH (keep if no trade), Grimes (DL if no trade), Dawes, Garland (DL if no trade), Dunn

That should be 5-6 spots freed up on the list for Hibberd + Wagner + 1 more trade in + 3 picks in draft

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
