I was having a look at the MCC Members waitlist/join page and besides the fact that I'll probably be dead before I'd qualify for a Full Membership was wondering if anyone here can provide some knowledge on the process.

If I lodge the nomination form with the $110 application fee and it's then accepted, is there an ongoing fee to keep me on the waitlist? If so how much and does it differ for kids and adults?

Do you have to pay an annual fee to stay on the waiting list?

Nope, just the one off fee

One off fee. 240,000 or so on the waiting list. Preference will be given to those prepared to wear rubbishy denim jeans into the enclosure or those who bring their tiny, annoying children into the Grey Smith bar to inconvenience the adults in there who are trying to drink and socialize on game day.  They have to stop allowing these little brats into the bars in the members !!!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys, trying to weigh up whether it's worth putting myself and the two kids (3 & 1) on the waiting list. They may get memberships by the time they're 40.

Might be sooner than that if you're lucky

PROPOSED 2016/17 MEMBERSHIP INTAKE

All Restricted members who were nominated on the waiting list from September 1, 1990 to November 30, 1990 inclusive will be offered Full membership.

Existing Provisional members nominated from December 1, 1996 to May 31, 1997 inclusive will be offered Restricted membership

Waiting list candidates nominated from November 1, 1997 to January 31, 1999 inclusive will be offered Provisional membership

The waiting list, therefore, will consist of candidates nominated from February 1, 1999 to today.

Is anyone able to explain the difference between Provisional and Restricted Membership? Does it cost the same annual fee?

That's what I've already got at the moment - the only thing that got me thinking was the finals tickets prices, it cost me $20 a seat to "upgrade" to the Hawks/Cats QF in AFL Reserve, MCC is only $10. GF Tickets are around $200 for AFL Members these days, MCC get in for free don't they?

MCC is a ballot and then a first in basis on GF day for limited spots

The $110 is a one off.  The next time you have to pay is when a membership is available

Thanks for the responses guys, think I'll stick with my AFL membership - the wife would kill me if she knew I'd forked out hundreds of dollars for something I might get in a couple of decades haha

Provisional members are the "new" members that they're trying to get through. At the moment each year they review the list and assign people a "restricted membership" but as there will be people who have their name put on the list at birth are not looking at getting their membership till they're in their 60's they introduced a new tier which is approx. 20,000 people. The additional 20,000 people were going to be added over a 3 - 4 year period, I still don't think it will do much for majority of the people on the list.

I have been an AFL member since day 1. This year myself and three guys I attend the games with have decided to buy trident memberships.

About the same price

Sit with Melbourne fans

Much better viewing

Guaranteed seat for the GF if Melbourne competing.

My son was put down for MCC when he was born. Estimate is he will be due for membership in 3 years.

He's not into the cricket.

Will only attend Melbourne games and that's when it doesn't clash with his footy

Can only get a beer behind glass.

I will probably let it lapse when offered.

It's interesting. A lot of my friends gave up their MCC membership when they turned 18. I suspect there are quite a few that do that too.

There was a vote about a year ago and I feel like it was RE allowing more half members join. Can anyone confirm that? If that's true, I'm not surprised the waiting list is so long.

And my old man has been an MCC member for 50 years as of next year. Does he get much of a discount? Not really. Ridiculous, given it costs $700 odd a year.

The sting for current people on the waiting list is the $600 "joining fee" which makes your first year very expensive. When I joined there was no joining fee but it was introduced to help pay for the "new" stand on the northern wing.

So there is your nomination fee to begin, and when you join, at whatever level provision, restricted or full, there is the joining fee. It is a good deal eventually. Finals are free unless you want a reserved seat which can be had for $20.

I like to hear of Demon fans joining up because it's part of the heritage - for both clubs, that is. It doesn't stop me buying multiple football memberships yearly.

The vote about a year ago was about introducing provisional memberships - getting more people in - because the wait is so long right now.

When they built the new stand they partially funded it by increasing the membership level dramatically.

Before that it was the norm that children put down at birth got restricted membership at around 20 and full membership around 25. When the stand was built my 16 year old got restricted (unrestricted when he turned 18) and the 18 year old got full membership. Not very happy as it meant I paid the not inconsiderable annual fees !!

By the sound of things the waiting list has blown out again but it would not surprise if they upped the number of members. The members stand is only filled on a few days of the year.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
