Fitzpatrick starting Full Forward in a Hawthorn v Geelong Qualifying Final. Can't wait to see him but it will be slightly bitter sweet if he crashes packs, their small forwards get on top and he kicks a bag :( Could be one of the biggest list management failures of our history if he has a big September, and a few weeks later we're shopping for a ruck/fullforward.

Gee great 6th or 7th post, so Fitzy will be the first ever list management failure by a footy club...wow.....and why are you shopping for a ruck/forward?, do you have your own team?

Hawks probably out in straight sets...good luck to Fitzy but it shows where their list is at to my mind.

They've covered up for Roughy but now things get serious.

I know it's a technicality but we didn't delist Fitzy. We traded him to Hawthorn for pick 94. I recall reading somewhere we did this so that he could start training with them before the delisted free agents period which would have otherwise set him back a couple of weeks.

Say what you will but our handling of outgoing players has certainly improved.

Posts like that are just silly, I always thought Fitzy could offer something, but never got the opportunity through circumstances, thought it was the right thing to do to offload him, good on him if he gets a bit of success at Hawthorn, to say that it was a list management failure is preposterous

looking forward to cheering Fitzy on.

If spanger can do it....

So will I, imagine if we had kept him another year, which he spent at Casey, a list clogger!!!!

Getting a bit ahead of yourself there Dom. I wish him well, but not that well!

Winner of Cats vs. Hawks has a very nice run to a flag IMO. You stop Dangerfield and Geelong have zero chance. A. Clarkson with 2 weeks to plan how to stop him will have my money 100% of the time.

Reckon they are just an ordinary side but they have the best coach I've seen during my time watching footy, and we've seen what interstate sides generally serve up at the 'G when the heat is on.

Still the Hawks for mine.

I would assume Fitzy will be instructed to just get to contests and get the ball to ground for Cyril and co. He doesn't have to kick a bag to do his job.

I really hope you're a female poster*. If not, I'm not sure what you're suggesting about Dom Tyson with that name!

*Either way, you best stay away from BBO.

Don't entirely agree with your post but you get brownie points for upsetting the resident headless chook with you first post.

Welcome to the loony farm Dom.

I thought we should have kept him. I am happy he played well. As for biggest list management failures of our history, well that is quite a stretch. He would probably have to win 2 Norm Smith medals and a Coleman and a Brownlow to beat some of our doosies.

Well done Fitzy. Howe, Chip and Fitzy having a chin wag post match. Good triumphs over evil as Max would say.

What do you think they were saying? My guess is:

"Look how far we have come, considering none of us can hit targets"

not sure wet weather footy is fitzy's forte, but if his 'role' is just to bring the footy to the ground it might work out though if it is as wet as predicted the footy will come to ground no matter what

The ever innovative Hawks will  introduce a new  wet weather tactic called tunnelball.

Well butter me both sides! In the wet it cannot be marked and in the dry it stays airborne permanently.

Sorry DC, the door was open and after that tin hat comment I have been scarred, may have to start wearing the rubber undergarments again.

I think Fitzy will do OK in the wet with his ruck work but no 60 meter goals tonight.

He got lucky last week. Sorry i cannot hope that anyone wearing a Whorethorn jumper does well.

Nothing personal Jack.

struggling today, mandee?

personally, if i was a hawks selector and i believed the weather forecast i would be replacing fitzy with a smaller agile inside type player, and that's not meant to a sleight on fitzty, just being pragmatic

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
