I'm not in favour of continuing a tradition of MFC being a retirement home, but I think with our extremely young list and lack of early draft picks, it might be the right time for us to pick up one or 2 seasoned campaigners to contribute and be a good influence amongst the playing group.

With Port not renewing his contract, Schulz is on the lookout for a new home.
Hogan still needs someone to help him out that isn't Dawes, and if he could pass on some of his kicking ability we'd be popping corks.

Wouldn't cost a lot and would ease the workload put on Weideman/Hulett who I don't think will be ready to be full-time members of an AFL forward line.

As long as he brings his walking frame and his step ladder. He looks like he breaks his back whenever he jumps for the ball.

Petrie looks in better shape.

I'm a little torn on this one. Would recruiting Schulz and playing him, rob one of our young key talls of a year's development? Probably. Would his spot be better used on another player? Dunno.

Great contribution, huh?

Fill the AFL with people who have been smart players and made effective use of their talents the way Shultz has, and I'd be a happy spectator every week.

Lots of respect for him, but not a place on the Demon's list.

Very good player in his day but he's well and truly done and has been for the better part of 18 months. Pass for mine.

kicking coach for Hogan ? ( had to be said)

Unless said experienced player is also capable of helping out in the ruck i'm not interested.

That's why i have some interest in Petrie, but none in Schulz.

Even if you're kidding, it's not that bad an idea.

Something needs to be done, that's for sure.

I think I agree with this the most.

Yep, that's what I was going for...

Seems to have broken down this year, did kick 66 in 2014, but he has a desire to play on for a couple more years. It'd be comparable to the Roos getting Waite, we do need that leading forward and someone who can slot a couple of set shots by trade. Only would consider because I don't know if Weid will be able to play that role and our forward line needs a shake up

Shulz, Petrie, Firrito, Harvey. [censored] it, let's just recruit them all.

Ted Richards is retiring at the end of the season, I reckon he'd boost our playing age as well, Salem and Grimes should get the job done.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
