You cant be serious. Probably only leigh matthews and noem smith have comparable coaching records

Agree 100%, the fact they are still near the top without Roughead for the season isย a testament to his coaching and game plan.ย

ย

People questioning Clarkson's coaching. Please don't insult the man. His Record is already set in stone. It can only improve.ย

Norm Smith never got 4 in a row either...

The last comment prompted me to look up Smith'sย record. Born in 55ย it is so long ago it is hard to remember. ย Runners up in 54 & 58 and flags in 55,56,57,59 andย 60 so for 7 years Smith was the man. I would be grateful for the current crop to deliver 1 that I can see and remember

5 in 7 years Old...6 in 10

i reckon Goodwin can at least equal those numbers.

10 in 10 would suit me...we have all got a lot of scores to settle...

And we still will be behind most clubs in the overall win/loss comparisons since VFL began.

If we win 5 in 7 years, we'll go ahead of Essendon and Carlton for most flags in VFL/AFL history...

Early word is Ceglar and Nick Nat have torn their ACL's, that is terrible. Both injured in almost the same spot. Good ruck men are hard to find and both would effectively miss most of next year.

Oh no

We'll also move from equal last to first in most flags in AFL history, in case anyone actually cares.

Sydney should be clear premiership favourites.

yep. Sydney Adelaide granny unless some wildcard team sneaks in

"The huge curve ball in this year's finals series is that bye after round 23," Clarkson said after the loss to the Eagles.

"It's unique, it's never been done in the game before. No one knows how it's going to pan out.

"Even if you win the first final you've then got a very, very nervous wait.

"When you get into the prelim, you've had one game in about three or four weeks, which is really unique.

"If we lose, it's not the be-all or end-all," Clarkson said.

"We still give ourselves a chance. If there's any year there's a chance to come from outside of the top four, it's this year, because of that very unique situation."

The Hawks are coming

3-4 rounds ago a fair few commentators were bemoaning the fact that this season had become predictable and boring. The events of the last few weeks have really shaken things up, if the rest of the results this week go the way they're expected the final round could have implications in mostย matches.ย

Now just need Collingwood to knock them over next week...

Hate to say but I could be barracking for the Pies, just this once ย

On the other hand, imagine if somehow Hawthorn dropped to 5th and we made 8th.

No worries. After all we cleaned them up recently and showed the Weagles how to do it. ย Old and slow.ย

We would repeat the dose of round 20 and send them packing straight out of the finals!!

Hawthorn won't win it and West Coast isย arguably the worst top 4 team I've seen.ย

Edit: looks like West Coast won't make tip 4.

Any one else enjoy Frawley copping a bath? Great to see him floundering ineffectively against Kennedy in the first and then getting clean bowled in the last. Not missing him at all.

Considering the fact that we have recently beaten Hawthorn and given West Coast a fright (at their home ground), we're in with a chance if we win our next two games.

Coming on to Demonland this morning and half expected to see a game day thread for the North/Swans match. I'm almost as toey about that game as any Melbourne one for the year.

Go Swannies!!!!

A big win please, Sydney.

The real question SWYL is what has he not done!

Dermott Brereton was scathing:ย  โ€œHe is plenty big to rough it up with anyone โ€ฆ (Instead) he runs to the drop of the ball and within two seconds of the ball on its flight path being about to drop, he pulls out of the contest and wants to crumb it...โ€œHeโ€™s a powerful beast but to me heโ€™s looking for maximum reward from minimum effort and minimum contact to him...โ€œHeโ€™s brave but at the moment he is wanting to play his footy without suffering any body punishment.โ€

When given the opportunity Beveridge didn't disagree with Dermott's comments.ย ย

From AA to VFL - some fall from grace!ย  Albeit temporary I'm sure.

Got to give it to the Bulldogs to have the courage to make that call.

Dermott is stating the obvious but as usual only looking at the surface.

Stringer is carrying a shoulder injury, if you check footage from last year he had no tape on his shoulders. He's heavily tapped now and receiving jabs to get him through the game.

The dogs need him to stand up in September so he goes back to the VFL to see if he can hit up a contest, take a hitย with that shoulder, get a bit of confidence that he can do it. He has no confidence in his body at the moment. He's playing counter to his usual style.

I know all that rjay - I was simply answering SWYL's question.

As I said Stringer's fall from grace is temporary.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
