FWIW I agree that it seems stupid to bring in players at this stage unless it is to rest others (Cats seem to have done this). I rate Viv but am clearly in the very small minority on this site. He will not be at MFC next season and I think that tomorrow may be an audition for another club. His form in the VFL is outstanding and his selection is reward for that effort. Even Roos rated his form as fantastic.

I would have thought its a smart thing to do. In the small chance we do play finals we would have a very strong squad to choose from with a good form line.

And we don't know who is carrying injuries or what specific role the incoming players will play. Could be about team balance...

Nah I just think despite showing plenty at VFL level, was yo yo'd last season and not given much of a go this year all of which suggest to me that he is not going to be re-contracted. The interesting thing is that he has been emergency 9 times this year. It is difficult to understand the FD thinking some times. I hope he stays but I doubt it.

I reckon the fact he was emergency so often suggests he is in their thinking. the dogs have shown this year how critical it is to have a big group of players who play at a high level in the VFL and come into the senior idea and fit straight into the system and play their role.

A couple of days ago Nasher was lamenting the typical "group think" on Demonland, because some were suggesting Harmes be dropped.

Timing didn't work out well for old mate Nash this week.

Cheap shot.  You're better than that.

For what it's worth I've been so wrong on so many occasions this year I just keep my thoughts to myself.  It's saved me from being the laughing stock of Demonland!

I was asked a question and it was said with no venom.

Your post suggests you've taken it too seriously.

Mind you, I  thought Nasher did too.

Not at all. I knew I'd got pretty much every call in this thread wrong. I was expecting a ribbing - I even actively went looking for it.

Must be pretty rough for you. X

Don't follow that....I really don't care who or who isn't in the side, as long as they play their role and have a crack, just think the 'group think' is a bit harsh on Hogan at the moment, I support whoever is on the field and watch the game, not look for mistakes, of course we have some perfect posters on here who have never made a mistake....especially on the footy field

Think Harmes for Michie is a straight swap to see if Michie is worth keeping, he has been playing consistently good footy at Casey but that is VFL, they know what Harmes brings, maybe just a rest for him, can also understand Nibbler, been banging the door down, maybe defensive forward role on Simpson? Weideman enough said. I once asked Pedo why he seems to play every game like it is his last, said it might be, he didn't expect a new contract last year and was overjoyed when he got another year

If we win by ten plus goals tomorrow, the bringing in the Weed, ANB and Mitchie will seem inspired!

With finals still a possibility yeah that makes sense.

And to talk about Michie like he's a broken clock when you're cleaning out the garage, horrible, how can you talk about your friends like that. Shame.

Geez I hope Pedo gets another year.

Nah, I personally think he is a good player, just doesn't push himself forward, with the way footy is these days, a fine line between being on a list or not, besides which have had about three words with him since he joined the club, and according to some of the other players that is quite good for him

Part his hair in a circle and give him a mullet and you have Bruce Doull the 2nd.

He missed a regulation shot from very close at a critical time. He is very casual.

If Pedo was the only player that missed a regulation shot last week, I would agree. He wasn't and contributed quite well for a guy whose been labeled on Land as not able to run much, fat, in the way of the other forwards... and now very casual.

ATM compared to our other key forwards (Watts excluded) he's fantastic value for money.

edit. Queue some fool responding with "yeah, let's get rid of all our highly paid players and replace them with cheap plodders"

He will, especially if Dawes doesn't.

He deserves to (Pedo that is) as he has proved to be excellent depth.

If you can remember Bradshaw for the Brions, at one stage he hardly got a game but whenever he did he performed.

Pedo not quite in that class but he knows what to do and usually does it.

At what stage did Bradshaw "hardly get a game"? He played a minimum of 16 games in all but his first and last season and kicked over 50 goals in a season 4 times.

He was a bonefide full forward who people underrate because he spent most of his career next to Jono Brown.

Pedersen record for goals in a season is 18. Again excluding Bradshaw's first season (3 games for zero goals), the least he ever kicked was 19. He kicked 28 in his last year for Sydney when he was clearly finished. I get the point you were trying to make, but you do your argument no favours with such an outrageous comparison.

Maybe my imagination is playing tricks on me but it seemed like he for a long time was playing third fiddle to Brown and Lynch.

Anyway, point is Pedo is good depth and deserves to stay.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
