I like this because it means GWS are weakened. We'll need that in the coming 5-10 years.

The only good thing that will come out of the monster the AFL have created with GWS is their total inability to pay so many elite players their due salary. There's only 22 spots, after all, and A-Grade players aren't going to settle for a career in the NEAFL being paid unders just because they could only average 25 disposals in the seniors rather than 30.

Unfortunately, it will allow GWS an endless regeneration of their list with first round draft picks, plus the inevitable cheating of bidding system loopholes when they get their hands on a pick #1 in the same year they have an Academy player rated the best in the draft. And guess what? They'll end up getting both the open-draft's best player and their Academy player for a collection of second round crumbs.

Im sure they will just have multiple top 5 picks waiting to take his place

But then they've gotta get experience. That's better than having an experienced list primed for a flag. We just have to make sure we keep our list together.

Seems we are all missing the big point here. He wants to go to WA. Freo will get McCartney, Lobb - guess who they no longer will go after....

Sad reality is they will definitely, 100% win a flag (perhaps this year) within the next 3-4 years. They might snag two. The only thing we can hope for is a Port-like fall from grace.

I am in absolute love with Lobb. He is a star in the making. Will be one of the best forward/ruck swingman in the competition and would be very high on our priority list. Unless we can pull off a Mitch Clark type deal in convincing him to change his mind and come to VIC I can see him going back home.

In conclusion, I would be over the moon if we landed Lobb.

I watch Rory closely, one my favorite players in the competition to watch.

I really think he is the next best thing, could be the premier Ruck/Forward in the competition in two years.

Would be incredible if he somehow ended up at Melbourne but I can't see it happening.

Going to Freo where in a year he is the first choice ruck and first choice tall forward makes a lot more sense.

Lobb is a talent but he is contracted and GWS won't let him go easily.

IMO we don't really need a second ruck option. Gawn takes 80% of the game and Watts adds another dynamic to our midfield when he goes in the middle. I feel our side would become too slow with Hogan, Gawn, Weideman/Pedersen plus another tall.

McCarthey - Freo's third round pick ( surely they couldn't ask more

Lobb & one of the Giants picks 14ish - Freo's pick 4

Hill& third rounder - pick 14

they will get some compo for Mayne as well i suspect.

Forget bringing Lobb to the MFC. The best thing about this is that he's a much more achievable target for Fremantle and will take focus from Hogan. Freo will land him.

Gotta go hard at this guy, he'll be a superstar and perfect foil for Gawn. Won't be easy but can be done.

Sign up Hoges first, then worry about bringing in outside talent.

But for sure, Lobb would help out Gawn big time and we'd no longer need to drag along the dead weights in Spencer and King (Max).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
