I thought we were gunna lose again......

A win and four points, in a close and horrible to watch game of footy, and more experience for them. I thought Hunt in particular in the last qrt showed real desperation and a desire not to be beaten, along with Watts, pleasing to see that. Frost and Omac showed enough to be happy with for the future. Brayshaw,Tracca and Stetch all good, and learning the hard way with no real leadership, that we so clearly lack in this team.

I agree. Was exactly my response. He has 60 games on Jesse.

Petracca only had 14 touches yet he stood out like a sore thumb.  His kicking and decision making are already first class.

It probably says a lot about the development of our midfield that we can still be in games (this week win it and last week lose it by a single kick) without him kicking goals. Also, our greatest win under Roos came at the Cattery last year (still stoked to have been there) and we were Jesse-less.

Geelong should have lost to Essendon earlier in the year.  They were pitiful and just got over the line.  They'll probably make top 4.

There are some games you just move on from.

Not good enough from a senior player. My sister and I were talking about this after the game. The younger players must look around and go, 'oh well, Bernie is having another stinker this week, he's a senior player, so I have to be superman to bridge the gap'. The senior players in our group continually lower the standards of the rest of the players and soon, this has to change if we're going to be a serious threat in the next 3-5 years.

As usual there are those that want to twist events and outcomes to sate their own argument. 

My view has never been its just good enough to win only about winning. 

Its to be able to play football properly and capably in a manner that wins.

Last week we threw away a win because a team had no idea how to. Not a lot changed this week other than we were playing a distinctly undermanned team who play woefully away. We still as a team had no idea how to Play properly or capably and it was purely the efforts of Avery few and especially one that saved us the ignominy ofagain stealing defeat from the jaws of victory. 

If anyone found that game anything other than offensive to the eye then they have very different standards to many of us who found it a deplorable effort as a team. If GC had been a tad better we would have lost again and deservedly so.

We took the 4 points but in as much a sheepish fashion as must be possible. 

Only a small handful of Dees could be justified in being content with effort and outcome and certainly none would have been sitting in the box.

Some folk here have a very skewed appreciation of reality. Matches their ability to present it.

Jeez Hogan gets marked hard.  After 36 games he'd kicked 83 goals and after 36 games Lynch had kicked 33.  Just a lazy 50 difference.  Lynch is a gun, but he too took time. 

Hogan is finding life tougher, but he has a heap of upside.

I'd love to hear how you think some twist events and outcomes, as I think every poster in here acknowledged that it was a terrible performance today, but as always it's still a relief to take the 4 points.  I know you like to think you're some sort of oracle, and that people can't see all parts of the game, but you're quite wrong on this one.

Just back at The Manor after a very shitty game of football.

Jack Watts played his best game ever. This was the game of a mature footballer and leader who was on the spot when most needed.

Dom Tyson was effective without being spectacular. Geez he worked hard.

We frigged around with ball to a chronic level. What is the problem with kicking the ball toward our goals? I would also like to know what Hogan's role is? He works his arse off and takes marks/gains possession all over the ground. Can he do this and be a key forward? I must say that Jack Watts did just this but he has about 100 games hard won experience on Hogan. Jesse seems down on confidence to me and I wonder if lack of role clarity is contributing?

I reckon people see a couple of turn overs or HTBs against Tyson and dismiss him a bit. He is having a terrific second half of 2016. He's matching his 2014, he just needs to start hitting the scoreboard more. But he's one of our best players every week and still people overlook him. For a guy who's only played 67 games (many injury-interrupted), he is a serious talent and we're lucky to have him. I feel he might be a bit like a Scott Thompson or a Sam Mitchell pre-2015, a perennial underrated star. But he's only going to get better and I'm looking forward to it.

Oh and he was best on ground quite easily today. Not flashy, but kept us in the game for three quarters.

Our midfielders were absolutely disgraceful today. Not only didn't they make full use of Max Gawn, but they consistently burnt Watts on the lead. Pathetic. Thankfully Watts kept trying, and eventually he was rewarded. Will be a much easier game to watch when quality like Petracca and Oliver roam that midfield.
