I'm surmising.

I have no anecdotal evidence - but, there was an obscure 'throwaway' line by Max Gawn on Gameday when he related the incident about Dunny sending a torp up the middle of the ground from a kick in without flagging his intentions with his teammates.

I think there was a turnover that resulted in a goal.

I'd rather play Tom Gilles at full forward than bring back Dawes. 

Bizzare call from Roos. Dawes has only booted one goal from his four games this year. In all seriousness, I'd much rather bring back Pedders or even potentially blood Hulett or Weideman.

Why the f*** would we bring Dawes back, didnt even play in the VFL last week. Would much prefer to reward Spencer & play two rucks. Allowing Watts to stay permenant forward & Gawn to play more forward aswell... 

Must of had a blinder in the coaches box last week.

Didn't spill any coffee's, chased down the team sheet that got blown away by the wind, structured the magnets on the white board.

Lynden Dunn: Dunny had 26 possessions, six marks, three tackles and 11 rebounds. He was pretty solid throughout the course of the day. For a lot of the time, our defenders had to defend for their lives. The way the conditions were, we were unable to get the job done around the ball. The defenders found themselves in pressure situations. His positioning across the game was strong. There are things he needs to address to get back into the AFL team, but he’s working hard to address them. He’s got some strong qualities and he’s played a lot of AFL footy, so we’ve got high expectations on Dunny. We’re working hard to get him going again.

I don't understand why given his form and experience he is not tried up forward, if not wanted in defence, in the seniors.He has the size to play CHF for a few games, has more strength than Watts to contest in the ruck, when they give Max a chop out. He is a beautiful long kick and has kicked several goals when played up forward.

I don't know what he has done or not done, to be overlooked all year, but it must be more than just a poor game in the seniors. We have plenty doing that regularly and staying in the side..

Got down to training this morning just in time to see the seniors walking off and those that remained I assume will be playing at Casey; the group included Grimes and White. Poor Grimsey pays the price for a poor game. Oliver was there and Spencer.

The group did not include Stretch, Bugg, Dawes and I think ANB. Two changes and two emergencies?

Dawes' last game was poor, and he was dropped/punished accordingly.

But it's also clear that the coaches (and from everything you read, players) feel that the team structures up better with Dawes in the side. No question, he's a limited footballer. But he's not a dumb footballer, and he takes pressure off both Hogan and Watts - how many times was Hogan marking against two or three opponents last week?

Put it this way, if he's in, I can understand it.

Edit to add Roos comments, which clarifies the above:

"We'll probably bring Dawesy back this week because I think what happens with our team at the moment, with Wattsy (Jack Watts) going in the ruck, Jesse's often one-out (in attack).

"So that's probably our end of the bargain, making sure as coaches we're providing players with a really good opportunity to play well and not get frustrated."
