Haha do u think they won't want to trade with us anymore because we were mean to them?

I think it'd be silly to tell two sides to F-off rather than, look we'll know more in a week.

But Abe you're not going to portray to those clubs that you're even the slightest bit keen to do any deal are you?

At least when this attitude is communicated you'll hope they realise they'll have to move heaven and earth to get any trade done.

I just don't see that it achieves anything, assuming flamingdees is correct of course.

especially given it's so close to when they were supposed to get more of an answer from Jesse

Yes all part of the game.

If the two WA clubs call and say "we'd like Jesse, are you interested in trading him", of course you're going to say no. That's just basic negotiating, whether you are interested or not.

If Hogan comes out and says he wants to be traded then you can begin discussions but you still play hard ball. We're in a position of strength with him being contracted for another year.

Fair call, i guess it's more the way flamingdees worded it that i'm unsure of, i think you could tell them no without telling them to f-off

Thanks FD, I appreciate you passing on the details of the conversation with your 'contact', knowing that your sharing it 'for what it's worth' with your fellow supporters.

A Players managers' wife is an aquantance of mine. On Tuesday morning she said 'hubby' had not heard much about Jesse?

And that's what the problem is.

No one except Jesse and him manager know what his thinking right now.

If they said that in response to the speculation around him signing a 4 year extension, I'd be extremely despondent about his chances of staying.

And if they said it about the trade rumors, would you be equally upbeat about his chances of staying?

Yes. I am an emotional rollercoaster right now.

I think the conversation would go along the lines of "what would it take to get Hogan this year". Our response would be "he's still a contracted player and we're not interested in negotiating" This will all change if Hogan doesn't recommit to club before trade week.

Hogan staying going of course he knows what he wants to do.The usual happens,Dee supporters are running around "stuffed in the head". Lets trade him to Gold Coast for 2M Peter and a set of steak Knives or a 2nd or 3rd pick and we could throw in ANB as a sweetener.Gold Coast can then have fun trading him.Simple solution and then someone can start a thread welcome to the Melbourne Football club 2M Peter.

Cool story Wayne except he would have to agree to Gold Coast which he never would.

I wish there was a way of knowing if there was any real news about Hogan re signing, I've opened this thread countless times, all to no avail.

Perhaps we could have an asterisk next to the thread title to show something of note has been posted.

It's "he's" FFS.

Or is it?

It could be that Jesse has a preferred way of being addressed. Check out this ... He, she or ze?

If Jesse doesn't identify as a Melbourne player then ze has a right to be addressed in the way ze feels comfortable with.

Maybe zir wants to play at an AFL club that is more embracing and respectful of differently-pronouned key forwards?

(This is a real thing in America. A growing movement. Beware.)

There is. You watch channel 7 news every night and wait for Tim Watson to say either "Hogan has re-signed" or "Hogan has been traded".

That way is best for your mental health and your longevity.

Hanging around on this thread ... well, if you don't stop it, you'll go blind.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
