The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

It is crazy to think that you don't believe that both players and officials talk to their relatives and mates. I had a few beers with my Cats mate after our mauling down there a few weeks ago. He discussed both potential player movement from his club (not him, he'd never leave Geelong) and injury details with me. That's me talking crap with an old school mate, someone I've known all my life. An actual friend rather than the tolerated acquaintance you are of the MFC players. But I am none of those things you mentioned above as the only possible people who could have inside information - I don't have sources within the MFC, I'm not "in the know", I'm not a player manager or club official or a member of Jesse's family.

The info he told me isn't a guess, it's not a 50/50 chance of being right like you've said.

There are a million examples of things like this happening. I repeat: you're unbelievably naïve if you think they don't.

Im high school friends with a Collingwood player and every summer we catch up for beers too. He too will spill anything regarding off season moves and other issues. I could tell you whos currently on 2 strikes at Collingwood.

Its human nature that players will spill anything especially when your close friends with them. Its just typical aussie mates that talk [censored]. Unfortunately Saty is so delusional that he thinks because players won't tell him anything that then has a net effect on everyone else.

I could talk about potential player movement, this board is full of potential player movement, we all have conversations, whether the potential move happens, that is the point I am making, Jesse has the potential to move to Freo, whether he does, nobody knows, there can be a million conversations about a potential move

As for injury I have discussed Lumumba's concussion on this board today, because it is a known fact and I had a good chat to him about it, but if you ask about a player during the season, you get the straight bat

Interesting you had to throw that bit in to make sure that we know you have a friend who is a present player, and I am only 'tolerated', making what you type much more believable I assume

No, this is what you don't seem to understand. If YOU ask a player about an injury during the season, YOU get a straight bat. My mate has whinged a number of times to me about how bad his back has been over the years.

I am a million miles away from being high up in the food chain in these sort of things. I've only got a mate as a player and a couple of other acquaintances around the league, as I'm sure a number of people on here do, or did when they were that age. As I said earlier, Chook in Perth has decent sources within the club, and there are many others who know people in high places, people who know much more about trade scenarios than players do.

The purpose of my post was not to denigrate you but to ask you to open your mind and realise that just because players and officials say one thing to certain people, it doesn't mean that's what they say to everyone.

A guess that was correct, please, I could do that and big note myself as well, but I share very little of the inside information I have because I believe I shouldn't, every one of us can do that and have a guess, and you have a 50/50 chance of being right.

it usually leaks out just before it is announced officially, as it becomes common knowledge inside the club as the media story is prepared, if it leaks at all.

I have spoken to both players and officials at the club asking about this very thing, and was told what I have written above is more the norm, it is not taken very well if they find somebody leaking stories, particularly about injury or contract issues.

i love how the weird and slightly creepy dude on the scooter is convinced that he would be considered inner sanctum. lol. He would in fact be humoured at training and laughed about behind closed doors.

i take nothing he says as any more than the players being told to humour the guy cause hes the die hard that turns up at training.

I am not delusional at all, some posters seem to love that word, we all have conversations, and we decide not to share the information, hopefully nobody from the Magpies or the media reads what you just typed

Everybody has an opinion/idea/rumour etc of what will occur, including the players at clubs, whether any of it comes to fruition is another matter, this is the point I am making, rumours make the world go around, especially in the 24 hr media cycle we have now.

Clubs will also release tidbits of information when it suits them, usually something trivial, or already known

Up to now we have 77 pages of speculation, that is all it is, speculation

Bang, exactly my point.

But Saty seems to think that this is "big noting" and cannot possibly be true. Nobody is claiming they're any more special just cos they're mates with a player Saty. They're just people, not the walking deities you treat them as. I've had a glance through your twitter and instagram before and literally the only people you follow are MFC players. It's bizarre.

Ah yet another schoolyard bully.........told you about the name calling..................I take it you read my posts though? I don't regard myself as inner sanctum, never claimed that, it is claimed constantly by the posters that don't read my posts but feel the need to reply to them......sound familiar

Any good rumours though?!

There is a rumour that some posters are blessed  with acquaintances with appendages that are to be admired.......but back on topic Jesse to Freo for a second hand Leyland P76 with few kilometres on the clock and a 'B' class rookie they have recruited from the world championship winning German handball team

Dont know where this place would be without you and your constant policing.  Cheers.

No, it is just premature speculation

Sorry chap, you are only looking at my public Twitter and Instragram, I only use them for footy, which I thought was bizarrely normal, you did click follow on both of them whilst you were there?  I don't treat the players as deities, just human beings

Any new news at all?

You know I've been to some drunken fun nights where that particular event results in prizes and drink buying and change of partners!

Oh, look, the troll is derailing the thread again and making everything about him. How utterly predictable.

Oh, but it's the "pack of bullies!"

I am not derailing, my posts have been on topic, sorry Sword, I am not the one who makes it about me, you just did, are you derailing the thread?

FWIW - here is my 2 bobs worth on this Hogan fella.  The Melbourne Football Club has spent the past 3 years under Roos and Jackson together with the blood and sweat of numerous hard working people at the club, getting this club off the bottom of the ladder into a position to have a crack at finals.

I have watched Hogan closely, at training and on game days.  To be perfectly honest his body language is terrible and hardly looks like a team player.  Perceptions can be meaningful and frankly he comes over as a me me me type!  I hope Goody gives him a reality check before pre season.

As for him and this poxy contract situation, word from the wise Jesse! Many an AFL champion from interstate has stuck fat with their football club and given back to the club who nurtured them.  Hogan can be a legitimate champion of the game if he fixes some attitude adjustments.  We want him to be a bonafide MFC hero, but if he is a me me me sook who wants to run home because he is homesick, then the club is better off without a sookie mummies boy.  On the other hand, if he shows maturity and sticks fat with us, then thats excellent.

I'm a bit fed up with players been drafted and then picking and choosing after 2 or 3 years to leave.  It makes a mockery of the draft system, just look at what it did to the Lions.  I want Hogan to stay, I don't want him to hold the club to ransom in 2017.

I'm not sure what's funnier, you talking about not big noting yourself, or thinking you get relevant inside information.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
