Who saw big Max on AFL360?

Big Max was feature interview on AFL360 this evening.

Good, frank interview. Obviously really enjoying the current suituation with the Dees, and the stage in his career, and has a very realistic view of where he sits in the AFL pecking order. Also lived up to his reputation for taking the p iss  out of his team-mates.

It was good very good, he represents the club so well with his intelligence, humour and charm.

Good to hear Clint. When has a footballer ever been described this way? Must be the first time. Intelligence, humour and charm. Particularly charm. Nice to know that our marauding first ruckman has charm.

The public school v private school comment was funny. According to Max there's only 5 players on our list educated in the public system including Col Garland 'coz there's no private schools in Tasmania'.

Errr, think that might have been a joke M9...

He went well, and handled Slobbo's questioning like a public toilet door [censored].

Slobbo "So Maxxy, What would you do if you didn't play AFL??"

Gawn "Well i ..."

Slobbo interrupts "I bet you go to South East Asia, yeah that's what you would do, that's what I'd do."

Gawn "I would be a pizza delivery driver, I worked at Dominos"

Slobbo "Were you fat"

Gawn "Yeah, I ate a whole pizza a shift."

Robbo is an utter mong of a host.. he had every option to discuss topics that could let people who are not Dees supporters, know more about him.

But Slobbo wanted to talk about South East Asia and being Fat...

And that is the type of person who I picture this dullard to be. A drunk fat guy in a Lady Boy Club, oiling himself up for his next adventure.

Well done Max.

Mate nothing wrong with the interview at all.

Robbo and Gerard have never met him and many of us actually actually never knew his background as a teenager. What i got out of that is how hard he has had to work on his professionalism. Its a credit to him. Everyone in the AFL industry is intrigued by big Max and we love him .

He knows the up and downs of being an AFL player so i have no doubt it will hold him on a good stead.

You gotta be trolling right now, surely.

To clarify, I meant Max's comment about there being no private schools in Tasmania was a joke, not his comment about where our players went to school.

Nothing trolling about it, unless you believe otherwise...

Is there a ling to this? Preferably with a Robbo filter.

Before the game last week Max took the time to walk around the fence and take photos with fans and sign autographs. He was the only player I saw do it before the game. Top guy

Yeah, but we know Max didn't used to take training too seriously. I don't mind Robbo's interview. I just hope when people laugh along at jokes about Gawn's past, that they also appreciate his dedication when he takes out the brownlow this year.

I think Dom Tyson stopped as well

Don't know about you but they look similar to me.....

Wasn't there a story about Big Max having a couple of darts (smokes) on the way to training a few years ago or on the off season? Can't remember but it reminded me of Richmond tough nut Kevin McGee having a dart at 3/4 time back in the day.

How good is it to have a #11 who absolutely fits the jersey, but also knows why it's significant.

All I think when I see him running around is... How good it must feel to be Max Gawn all day every day.

Having found the link, and being shown a couple of lings too, I must say for once Slobbo wasn't too bad.  On the wagon?

And what a character is our Gawnius maximums

PS Just saw a clip on DeeTV - Max standing as the interviewer for Matt Burgman interviewing Nev Jetta.  Very funny. One of his questions was "how easy is it when you have a dominant ruckman?"

Well it seems we have to share him with the league now. Everyone loves him. Was bound to happen I guess.

Great to have him fill in behind the mic in the latest player interviews. Makes them a lot more watchable.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
