Of course we'd be looking for a key forward like him, but unless he's been linked to us, what's the point of starting a new thread?

The word i've been hearing on this is his manager feels his value in the Market based on age, current form and scope for improvement is quite a lot higher then what Adelaide are willing to/ able to offer.

I think he's gettable if a club is willing to offer around the same as what Dawes is on, possibly a little more and give up a first round pick.

Personally i think he'd be a fantastic pick for us, he's good enough to make an impact and take pressure off Jesse right now, and will continue to develop into the future and as Weiderman develops he could become an extremely dangerous third forward/ ruck.

and if Jesse does happen to leave a combination of Jenkins/ Watts/ Weiderman i think would prove more than handy.

Adelaide would have plenty of cap space now Dangerfield has gone wouldnt they? Although they do have Tex, Betts, Lynch in their forward line already

on pretty good coin, and not many blue chip mids on megadosh apart from maybe Sloan.

Would be a very good pick up. But its round 4 ask me again in round 20 if he is still uncontrated. We have to show alot of improvement before we would be looked as a viable option. Also if Adelaide keep up their start to the year then he would need a hell of a good reason to go.

He's 27, had a career best of 46 goals in an attacking side, he'll cost a lot of money and a high draft pick for a team that's traded away it's first pick already, he seems very happy at the Crows and we've invested heavily in Weideman, want to keep Hogan on a big deal and Watts is coming out of contract soon as well.

Yes he'd fill a big hole. But I can't see it happening.

Hurley needs to be number one target.

Interestingly an article in the paper the other day talked about the Crows targeting Hurley and speaking to him last week when he was over there visiting his mate, Josh Jenkins. It mentioned he also went to the Showdown while over there.

if i was one of the essendrugs 12 looking for a change of scenery i'd strongly look at a complete change of scenery interstate

you know it makes sense

Same reason we have 2-3 threads leading up to a game, a game day thread, then 5-6 threads after each game discussing the same points over and over.

Whats done my head in recently is the "long time listener, first time caller threads".

Steady BA, we all have to start somewhere. I'm just impressed they've known how to start a thread!

My god he wants 4 years.....

Please Freo....give him SIX!!

4 years isn't THAT bad for a 27 year old.

There will be plenty of clubs, Freo included, who will throw truckloads of cash at him though.

Crows reportedly prepared to offer him only 2 yrs.

They're crazy then.  You would think he has more than 3 good years left in the tank playing alongside Tex, Eddie and Lynch.

I'm underwhelmed.

Granted he's a handy player, but despite his size he's a third stringer.  He benefits from the heat going on to Walker and Betts, plus they have the handy link player Lynch.

With Weideman coming along nicely, Watts improving and Garlett/Hogan I wouldn't have thought Jenkins would be on the radar.

A quality key defender and/or gun mid is of more interest.

Hence why I give my unequivocal full support for Fremantle to pursue him. To fill their KPF spot.

You could make the argument that he is the perfect foil for Gawn - a bloke who can play forward and then be a legitimate pinch hitter in the ruck.

It's a moot point though because I think we need to strengthen other areas and there will be other clubs willing to pay over the odds to get him.

I don't get the Weideman argument though - we like to talk him up, but he's a kid who is unproven at AFL level.  Yes, he's coming along nicely at Casey which is great, but he's still an unknown quantity at AFL level.

Is he premiership material? Pretty sure Hogan will be.

They did the same thing with Lynch last year and him basically saying he was coming to the dees caused them to cough up a better deal, the crows will pay what they need to to keep JJ

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
