For me it's all about how we play. Do we see a new Melbourne or no? Go Dee's

Brave and Bold footy is the new motto!

And a few more wins

Due to the decisions on not playing H, Dunn and Gus, I reckon AVB will only play if he is 100%. Bad idea playing a half injured player in rd 1. Especially with the new interchange cap

Have been looking forward to this game for a while now. Unfortunately, our boys and I have been stopped at the front door by my life manager*. We have been told that Easter comes once a year and that we are not wasting any part of this weekend sitting down watching football. She has not decided on what we ARE doing, but has certainly decided what we ARE NOT doing. sigh

I hope we win of course, but I hope it's a dull, boring and lifeless Fremantle style win so we don't miss too much.

Wowee. That's kind of a bit unhealthy.

I should be studying. But nothing will stop me making it today.

I'm with Nasher. Super nervous about losing a game i expect us to win. Can't wait for us to win a few and that feeling morph to expectation and enjoyment again!

Stupid question time...

signed up for afl live pass as a Telstra customer and I know you can watch live games on phone/tablet but can you watch games live through the afl website also?

we'll know at 12:10 whether or not avb is in - final teams need to be submitted an hour and a half before the bounce.

If not 100% then I expect Grimes will replace him in the 22

Everyone's different, I guess. It's hard to really comment without knowing the dynamics of their relationship, though I do know from an earlier relationship that time spent together lacks quality when one of the parties is held against their will.

Anyway, I reckon if I proposed spending a Saturday doing something that didn't involve my wife, took up most of the day and included me taking the kids with me, I reckon my she would open every door for me on the way out and have the bottle of wine cracked before I was out of the driveway.

I've had a nice air of confidence about this game, until this morning. The nerves have, finally, set in.

I still think we have the form and the players (not to mention the home ground/crowd advantage) to get us the win but I can't shake the nerves nonetheless.

A win today sets the season up and will feel great.

That's how I get to go to Norwood games each week... My 7 year old son being out of the house is a huge relief for the wife and 2 younger daughters! ???

Hope it is a great day for your and your son, but it sounds like it will be nonetheless. May the memories of your father be happy ones.

I am heading off soon on the train. Hoping to see lots of red and blue on the way in.

So this is what it's like to be truly "up and about" as a supporter base. 'Land and MFC related social media are buzzing today, and it's different to previous season openers, there's this real sense of enjoyment among Dees fans, whereas normally it would only be nervous anticipation and extremely cautious optimism. Our love for footy is back in a happy way, rather than a "I love you so I guess I'll tough it out" kind of way (a bit like some of the relationship dynamics in this thread by the sounds ;) ). Expecting a decent crowd today going by this vibe.

On another note, this thread is very handy for knowing who will actually be at the game and who won't, once we get to the post-match discussion thread...

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
