Bit worried about 2/3 of the half back line with the GWS midfield coming at them.It might be a goalfest for both sides on Saturday.

was going to renew full redlegs membership tonight but the the team selection shocked me ,if they dont pick dunn they have lost me ,the club treats us paying supporters like crap if players are injured or what ever we should know .JAM it where the sun dont shine

The club is finally not run by the players, best team selected at all times. Grow up.

This is what happens when Dunn isn't selected.

its like Freo having a fit Fyfe and leaving him out of the season opener. Bloody joke to leave a champ like Dunn out

Hahahahaha comparing Dunn to Fyfe?!

I am OK with Oscar

In what universe and on what planet  does Oscar Mc Donald get a game in front of Lynden Dunn???

Answer?? NONE!

I'll Say it!

THIS IS THE WORST SELECTION DECISION OF ALL TIME FMD!!!!

I'm livid, this is potentially a game changing decision

If Dunn is right then he plays, Absolutely no question!

Huge Huge gamble and massive fail in my book!

Oscar Mc Donald FMD!

I was only half serious in the other thread of hoping OMac being selected ahead of Dunn. But this thread has been totally worth it.

Not sure why the coaches wouldn't select our best side at all times. Oscar needs to develop for sure but I think Dunn needs to  get another game or two in.

Just looking at the GWS team theres nobody for Dunn to play on.  Tomlinson is their only tall and hes not even a true tall, he plays up the ground and has never been a goal kicker.

Selection makes sense

Edit - they have Paul Stweart, didnt sere him. theyve named him on the wing ........

O Mac ahead of Dunn?  Wow

He is a little under Dunn.

Sorry, I am ashamed.

I don't like Oscar over Dunn but some of the reactions....lol

Proof will be in the pudding on Saturday.

Officially the funniest post ever.

Talk about a hissy fit. If that's an indication of your fickleness, then good riddance to bad rubbish. Leave now and watch us rise from a distance.

FB: Jetta  Garland  Oscar Mc
HB: Vince Tom Mc  Salem
C: M Jones Jones  Bugg
HF: Vanders  Watts  Kent
FF: Pedersen  Hogan  Garlett
Foll: Gawn  Viney  Tyson
Int: Oliver Harmes Kennedy Frost

I think that's a truer representation of how the team will line up.

Vince and Jones will swap back and on the ball. Bugg will rotate to half back, Harmes will come to wing or forward. Kent will have a few minutes on the wing. Frost might ruck and/or will come on forward for Pedersen to ruck or to spell Hogan. Kennedy will come on forward. Vanders will go up to the middle or a wing. Oliver will play forward and in the middle.

There's a lot of speed and run, pretty much everyone besides Pedersen who will play forward of centre has speed and we have increased endurance in the backline group, which means run to cover off defensively and run the other way to get some quick rebound.

I'd love a class user on the outside and a bit more experience in each zone of the ground but we can't be negative about this team.

Carlton are showing tonight what you can do playing as a side and I like that this is pretty much the side that took on the Saints - Grimes replaced Matt Jones at 1/4 time and Wagner is out for Vanders. We ran that game out strongly playing the style of footy we wanted to play. Time to back it up.

Wow so its come around again. The topic of selection. Rapt that Oliver is playing. I just hope we don't make him sub. Let the kid play instead of sitting on the bench for 3 quarters getting all nervous. I didnt get to see our  games live , only seen snippets but geez I hope we bring the good from in.

News flash dees. No sub this year. If he starts on the bench, I'd say he wouldn't be on it long enough to warm it up.

Omac over Dunn? You've got to be kidding me...

Cognilio is another notable absentee. That's good i guess.

It's Coniglio, you rabbit.   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Managia, che scemo !!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a Matt Jones fan but let's give him credit for his preseason and possibly resurrecting his career. Roos is heavily into assigning players roles and maybe he'll find his place as a tagger. He certainly has a good tank. The big big problem as been his disposal and turnovers. Hopefully the coaches have ironed some of the problems out.

A few apologies owed to Jay Clarke on twitter today.

I'm mostly excited to see footy's back. Old mate waiting for Dunn to be selected to buy a 2016 membership... gold. Some complete loons posting tonight.

Bring on the footy.

Yeah I know. I completely forgot. I hope he starts on the ground.

“Dunny’s probably a little bit similar [to Brayshaw and Lumumba] – he hadn’t played a lot over the last couple of weeks as well.

“So they’re three that from a fitness point of view, we were able to leave out, based on the form of some of our current players.”

He's not ready to play, in the eyes of the coaches. Neither is Brayshaw. Neither is H.

You don't know better than they do. Neither does that other idiot claiming he wont buy a membership if Dunn doesn't play.

I'm calling [censored] on Barney being a member at all. Think about all the [censored] we have put up with over the years.

Think about how hopeless we have been. How we lost on purpose. The constant rebuild. The $cully saga. The wasted draft picks. 186. Mark Neeld. Cam Schwab. The Jurrah machete saga.

Barney stayed a true member through it all only to throw in the towel because Omac was selected in front of Dunn.

Oscar is taller than Dunn so why is he getting a game?

I've got some advice:

Head down to Coles, buy yourself a box of Kleenex and wipe up all those tears you've shed over the fact Oscar McDonald was selected over Dunn.  It might take a while, but you'll get there.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
