Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

O Mac, Terlich and ANB didn't make the squad.

Dogs have dropped Dahlhaus, Boys, Wallis and Macrae from theirs and have named a very, very weak side.  It's shite to be honest.  I'm kind of disappointed by that as I would have liked to see us up against close to their best side, plus I don't see the benefit in resting so many of your players when they need match fitness.

Not sure why ANB can't get a game.

26 named, but 3 are non playing subs.  Rawlings said Wagner was one of those.  Not sure of the other two.

He did have an injury issue early on, but he has been training strongly so not sure

Agree, know it's the NAB Challenge, but Dogs approach is bit strange

Dogs side very disappointing indeed.  We need to make up for Ballarat last year and obliterate them as a confidence boosting exercise.  And hopefully avoid any injuries along the way.....    It does seem however that we'll play 26.  Not quite sure what Jade was rabbiting on about??  Unless the plan is to principally use only 5 of the 8 on the bench?

I got the impression from Rawlings that Mitchie will be playing.

Any reason for the Dogs resting so many players?

No Suckling, Murphy, Wallis, Bontempelli, M Boyd, Dahlhaus, Stringer, Wood, Macrae or Picken today.

Most teams aim to give their players 2 of 3 practice games.  They also like to have their best players play the last one in prep for round 1.  Next week they play Collingwood so setting themselves up for a decent go against them.

Thats ok- gives us another chance to practice our game plan without too much opposition 'interference'.  Another win will be great for the team's confidence in said game plan.  Not to mention joy of supporters even tho it is a practice game.

I'm a bit flat about this game now.  Playing basically their VFL side doesn't fill me with excitement.

This, want to see/hear the same pressure and competitiveness we eventually brought last week

Fills me with dread. What if we lose?

If we play like last week then that won't happen.

I was just hoping to see us up against some strong opposition again to see where we are really at.  Last week gave us some insight but I was hoping to see us back it up.  I'm not worried about the game, just disappointed it won't be against a strong Dogs side.

I would expect to have fewer i/changes (guessing about 110) this week and see how the game plan stands up.  Then next week start with only 22 players and max 90 i/changes and again see how our game plan stands up in game sim situation.  Gradually setting up for round 1.

Everyone wants a win but I don't think that is the most important thing for the team today.  It is to practice the game plan, get confidence in it and get used to playing together.

Almost as much a 'core out' as the Blues put up against Essendon (Kruezer, Gibbs, Murphy, Cripps).

Still, Dogs have a lot more substance than the Blues so should still be a 'valid' game, for a practice match, anyway.

Oh, wait, which Boyd is out? Because only one really matters. The lesser-paid one!

Anyway, at least we still get to see Viney/Liberatore go nut to nut in the middle, yes?

Dont care who they put on the park as long as we can execute our game plan...only have to go back to last year when we lost to the bombers and carlton. Lets just keep building some confidence even if it is NAB Cup.

Look a good win is OK even if gifted. I am looking forward to seeing how our forward structure works today without Hogan. It will be good to embark on the season knowing that we can kick a big score even without Hogan. This will be a good test for two reasons:

a) We know that the season is not completely lost should Hogan ever get injured, and

b) We may have the luxury of allowing Hogan a week off when we play the weaker sides (e.g. Essendon in Round Two?)!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
