Look a good win is OK even if gifted. I am looking forward to seeing how our forward structure works today without Hogan. It will be good to embark on the season knowing that we can kick a big score even without Hogan. This will be a good test for two reasons:

a) We know that the season is not completely lost should Hogan ever get injured, and

b) We may have the luxury of allowing Hogan a week off when we play the weaker sides (e.g. Essendon in Round Two?)!

I wish i had your confidence to say that we could rest hogan against the weaker side. 10 years of crap doesn't allow us to think like that.

We rested him against Geelong at the Cattery last year and got away with it (and also last week against Port we established that it is doable if we pick our targets)! Only suggested resting any of our top 22 if absolutely necessary as prefer to finish top four this year rather than top eight!

Yeah for sure if we are battling for a finals position no doubt. I thought you meant just any game through out the year.

Now that is optimism, even I, who is regarded by some as one of the more 'loyal' supporters,  thinks everything will have to go our way to maybe play one final this year

Don't care what team they put out as long as we execute our game plan and no injuries come out of it.

Its also good to get more valuable experience into the likes of Oliver Hunt Wagner and Stretch.

Just keep getting games into the kids and no injuries please! I don't care about the scoreline as much as getting more game time into Oliver, Stretch, VDB, etc.

Of course there'll be the tedious wrist-slitting comments here if the QT scoreline isn't flattering, but it's another meaningless practice match. They're designed to test and tweak the gameplan and see how it lines up against opposition. Save the moaning for the season proper.

...now come on wouldn't necessarily use SWYL and tedious in the same sentence.....and you are expecting none of those comments, look away now

Brad Johnson one of the commentators on Fox Footy. Great.

Looking forward to seeing Jones and Vince have a run.

Garland named forward and Frost back, be interesting to see if that pans out.

Let the game begin. Can't wait. Just hope it proves to be a good test. Go Dees! Will be good to see how good the skipper is with his new neck.

On Fox Footy they had Frost named at CHB and Garland at CHF..

interesting..

Can't wait to watch Mad Max become the dominate ruckman in the afl this season......he will ragdoll these guys today..

I followed last week's match by skimming the thread and couldn't believe the hyperbole of some comments. There's a level of negativity that pervades our club in some supporter circles (justifiably so), but we have to trust in this coaching group going forward.

The side camera angle can get [censored]... Making my head spin. Pretty poor from fox footy

Presumably 10 seconds in.  All knees intact?

Geez the camera work by Foxtel is absolutely crapola.

Very hard to watch tbh.

The camera is set about as high as the dispensary at a chemist

Old style, old school

All knees in tact.

Good to see we are really pushing forward hard too when we get it. It just comes back quickly the other way when it goes pear shaped.

Jack Watts turns it over twice - a real shame because he is presenting brilliantly and taking lots of strong marks.

Watts does not understand that if he runs off his line in a mark it is play on.

He's done it twice in this game, if he did understand the rule he wouldn't have done it.

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
