Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Paleo diet could make you gain weight, new scientific research shows

My wife and I have been paleo for 9 months and it has made a big difference. I have lost 10 kgs and feel like I have a lot more energy.

The downside of paleo is that it takes a lot of prep time. Cutting sugar out of your diet means you need to prepare most meals from scatch.

We start the day with a green smoothie. Usually have a salad & protein for lunch and we have a lot of slow cooked meals with roast veggies for dinner.

The usual stables are still good in a paleo version ie spag bowl with zucchini noddles. Lasagna using eggplant & mushrooms with cauliflower cheese.

All diets get rubbished soon or later. I bet you someone is trying to get a Phd out of disproving the Paleo diet. Drinking too much water a zero calorie substance has been known to kill people, why not rubbish water.I don't drink the stuff only RED WINE especially the O.P brand ( other people's). If the Dees are crap let's blame the Paleo diet.

The thing about these style of eating is it requires the ability to cook, not just assemble !! My wife's not fussed as I do %99 of the cooking lol.

I'm genuinely impressed by those that understand what they eat :)

I really hope you mean "staples" and that you haven't been eating horse meat as part of your diet.

I have eaten horse meat in Bavaria. It tasted like a deep deep red corned beef to me. Quite nice.

very interesting it's time. can you give us an idea of what you eat (and what you avoid)?

The first step was switching from cereal for breakfast to a protein shake consisting ofmeitherna banana or some berries such as strawberries and blueberries with some protein powder, coconut water maybe a raw egg and a super foods powder supplement. Delicious and I don't get as hungry mid morning as I used to with cereal.

Lunch I either have a salad with some tinned tuna or some type of grilled meat or fish. I have to say cutting carbs out at lunch made the biggest difference. I always suffered a mid afternoon energy lag where I'd almost feel like I needed a sleep. That's gone.

Dinner I eat plenty of chicken, red meat at least once a week, usually grilled I the barbie.  I used to not eat much red meat. In keeping with PaleomI avoid potatoes, legumes, peas and beans.

I was never a big bread eater so it wasn't a big deal to cut it out. I love rice so it was a bit more challenging to cut it out.

My theory is if I make it too hard it won't be sustainable for me. So I'm not strict about it. I have some dairy like milk. I still have the occasional beer and wine.

The theory of these diets is that sugar is the problem. If you cut it out and the foods that turn into it after digestion out of your diet all the good things follow. Certainly seems to be working for me.

The other really interesting theory to it is that if you don't have sugar in your body it turns to fat as a source of energy. We have 10 times more energy reserves from fat than sugar. So much better for endurance for exercise. Also has the benefit that your body eats your fat reserves much more than before while at the same time reducing the fat created by sugar.

All I can say is that last summer I smashed most of my PB's on the bike and I'm now in my mid 50's. Some of those times have sat around for more than 10 years. I'm not a competition rider,or anything I just ride for fitness but we go pretty hard for us and I was stocked at the difference.

If you are really interested there is a book written by Rob Wolf called The Paleo Solution. It explains the science behind it in great detail. It's been around a lot longer than people think.

I've lost 11 kgs by reducing bread, pasta , spuds and rice.

no effort at all.

I wish someone told me earlier that carbs become fat before they are burned by the metabolism.

Don't eat white food.

No corn grits though Steve. Okra and collard greens are fine.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
