Certainly a chip off the old block! Some of those comparisons are eerily similar. It is early days though.

Although, out of curiosity, when did Demonland start monitoring Jack Viney or Billy Stretch?

I think there was a photo of Billy as a 14 year old playing representative footy in SA.  I'm not sure on Jack, but probably a similar age.

It would be amazing if this kid came on to be the athlete his Dad was.  He'd be a very handy forward with that height and leap.

Jeff White just posted these pics of his son who is turning 9 this year.

What do you guys think

Another F/S on the way?

Great picks.

That they came from Jeff's wife and he posted this message:  My wife just sent me these of Kalani and I, what do you think Dees fans wtC18q3lcvA.pngwtC18q3lcvA.pngwould suggest that if the kid wants an AFL career they want him to be a Demon!!

Yes, another F/S on the way!!

I just read the comments below White's pics - some extracts to warm the heart of an ardent Dee's supporter:

JW: I asked him what number he would wear and he said 34 haha

Robbo:  Son of a gun;  JW: Love right there bro

Fan: Sign him up now Dees, can't wait to see Jeff's 3 boys playing for the Dee's.

Fan: Good boy jeffy, he'll have a premiership medal, something you deserve

Great banter!

Let's hope Kalani (and his brothers) choose AFL!

This young man will come and play for the dees INSHALLAH !!

And Jimmy Stynes' lad will be available at about that time too!

Now if ever there was a hard act to follow....

"Kalani"?

Anyone want to forecast other first names in that 2024 premiership team (apart from the Jesse/Jack/Angus/Christian(s)/etc senior leadership)?

How old are the Davey boys?  Come to think of it, didn't Bruce and Green have a couple of lads in the same bracket?

Just looked this up.

Aaron has three boys.  Marley (2010) and twins Archie and Isaac (2012)

Green has two.  Oliver (unsure) and Wilba (2012?).

Bruce has one, Ben.  Not sure when he was born.

Either way, it's going to be a while before we are looking at any of these lads joining the side, but we can hope right?  Sometime around 2028-2030, assuming the rule still exists, we may have access to some pretty good talent.

Needs to put on some height and weight I'd say!

And maybe 10 years or so

Wilbur Green is the elder of the two I think - my son and he are in the same AusKick, and my boy is in the year below, and he's six.

Has skills, but not as much as Buckley or Hird's kids, who look natural footballers.

But they pale in comparison to Wanganeen's boy, who will be a star for Port in a couple of years. Freaking amazing talent.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
